    Harris linked with Drogs switch

Drogheda United manager Harry McCue is reportedly keen on taking St Patrick’s Athletic utility man Jamie Harris to O2 Park after being impressed by the Englishman in recent weeks.

Harris - who can play either up front or in the centre of defence - has been unable to hold down a place in the Pats side this season.

Close-season signings David Freeman and Keith Dunne have emerged as alternative options up front, while Charles Mbabazi Livingstone and top scorer Tony Bird have both been almost ever-present this season.

Nevertheless, Harris has got his chance in recent weeks with the suspension and then injury of Bird, and took it with both hands, scoring one and setting up another as Pats overcame reigning champions Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Friday night.

McCue has prioritised a new striker all season and, after front pairing Andy Myler and Declan O’Brien failed to pose a significant threat to Cork City at the weekend, the Drogs boss is reportedly ready to make his move for Harris.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    Young defender joins Drogs
Premier Division strugglers Drogheda United have moved to bolster their defence by snapping up Derby County’s Northern Ireland underage international Barry Molloy on a loan deal for the rest of the eircom League season.
Molloy, 19, has yet to make his first-team debut for the Rams, but is highly-rated by the Pride Park coaching staff, who see the move as a perfect opportunity for Molloy to gain some first-team experience at a competitive level.
The Derry lad went to Derby as a midfielder, but has made a successful transition to the centre of defence this season, already turning in a number of impressive performances at the heart of the defence for the Rams’ reserves.
He will stay at Drogheda until the end of the eircom League season in early December, and is expected to go straight into the squad for the Premier Division meeting with Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park this evening (Friday).
Drogheda are currently in eighth place, just one spot above the relegation play-off spot which the Boynesiders filled last season.
