I'd almost put money down that it is. Dooney had similarly structured mail addy as has Brian Kerr...

So they spend millions on flashy PR firms to protect them from the horrible media and then give everyone an email address a banned Ramblers poster could guess? I dunno who's worse, them for doing it or him for letting them.

Hang on while I put on my shiny face. Hi Fran, I'm Troy McClure! You might remember me from such...

imo keep it focused on the eircom league.. enough stuff on the national team already imo

I don't whats wrong with the FAI using that naming structure. Thats standard for practice for most businesses. Email is from communication afterall isn't it? I'm sure Bill Gates has an address like Bill@microsoft.com, bill.gates@microsoft.com or such...

Sure Bertie Ahern has an email addy kn0own to the punters but he just has an office on minions yo keep him from reading the plebs rants.

Still doesn't mean he'll read or reply to it!

Pete, in a wonderful world where pixies roam the land and pizzas and beer deliver themselves unordered, it's a wonderful scheme, but when you're hiding behind a couple of PR firms because your business is in a bit of a mess, it's just silly.

Bill Gates' address is billg@microsoft.com, but really, what are the odds that that's the email address he really uses? I hope it's not anyway, because my server is forwarding Sobig.F to that address at a rate of about ten a minute.

Of course it could be that they implemented it to improve and update the business, but do you believe that? Don't get me wrong, I want to see the FAI improved and streamlined. That's what I'll be asking about if I get the chance.

    Anyway, email sent.

    Code:
    From: adam beecher [mailto:adam@beecher.net]
    Sent: 27 August 2003 16:53
    To: fran.rooney@fai.ie
    Subject: Foot.ie

    Hi Fran,

I'm Adam Beecher, the operator of Foot.ie. Apologies for emailing you out of
the blue, but I can see weaving my way through your PR team taking donkeys
and I don't have the patience. I just have a simple request: Will you agree
to a Slashdot-style email interview for publication on Foot.ie?

I'd be surprised if you didn't know what that was, but just in case: You
agree to the interview, we get Foot.ie posters to ask questions, we pick ten
or so of the best and we email them to you, you answer them and send them
back, we publish the result on the site.

Nice and easy, shouldn't take you more'n a half hour or so, maybe an hour if
you actually think about what you're writing. Which we'd prefer. :)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers,
    adam

jeeze the font so small i read that as talking to donkeys

adam and others, i notice that ppl who use the net alot refer to url's without the http or www as you have done here adam with foot.ie ( also when referred to in the cork city matchday mag as they often do .. its also just foot.ie) now i and everyone here knows what foot.ie is.. surely it might be an idea for the not so net savey (sp) to include the more familiar-website indicating universal www so that ppl know exactly its a website thats being referred to

There's something seriously wrong on that rig of yours James!

adam and others, i notice that ppl who use the net alot refer to url's without the http or www as you have done here adam with foot.ie ( also when referred to in the cork city matchday mag as they often do .. its also just foot.ie)

It should have a capital 'F'!

now i and everyone here knows what foot.ie is.. surely it might be an idea for the not so net savey (sp) to include the more familiar-website indicating universal www so that ppl know exactly its a website thats being referred to

Fran Rooney is a former CEO of Baltimore, a world-renowned crypto firm based in Dublin. If he doesn't know what Foot.ie means, I don't think I want to interview him.

well i know who fran rooney was and is.
the point i was trying to make was moreso for the corkcity matchday mag reference and in general. it was only reading your good self mention Foot.ie in the fran rooney email that reminded me of it.

Baltimore well known for their massive PR & marketing departments so maybe Fran took a few of them with him to Merrion Sq. Only problem is the FAI don't have any shares to hype.

Ask him why is he making extortionate financial demands on the FAI !
By the way things are going, he may not be there for much longer.
