    "... quite simply, bad people."

A small rant on something I have heard that has annoyed me:

John Purcell has once again contradicted promises that were made by the Limerick FC Committee. I was informed that he said that he was selling raffle tickets and taking orders for jerseys in Dunnes on Henry Street.

Earlier in the year we agreed to take on merchandising as the club weren't doing it and people wanted jerseys. We have gotten the jerseys recently and we are hoping to get scarves as well in time for the Dream Team thing.

We were told that the Supporters' Club would be doing the jerseys, but now they have apparently changed their minds and not informed us.

Quite simply they have lied to us. They have breached the trust of those who got off their @rses and helped out when the club was in trouble.

I really don't care for these people on the committee who have made this decision at all. They have shown their ineptitude in running the club in the past, and have now shown themselves up to be quite simply, bad people.

And I can tell you now what they will do to sort this out:

    - Absolutely nothing.

I've been trying to make these points all along for the past few weeks, but nobody seemed interested in reading my posts. These people quite simply have to go. I' m not going down the road of name calling, or suggesting how any more. They quite simply have to go...full stop!!!

But the thing is they simply will not go. A way must be found to remove them.
But how does one dismiss a non elected group. The club is in the control of individuals who answer to no one but themselves. This is very very wrong.
Any body who who says that the committee have any redeeming feature is at best naive or at worst self serving and no real supporter.
If the past few months if they have demonstrated anything it is that the genuine supporter does not have any voice in the running of the club.
Worse though is the the fact that there is no way of removing the committee which has so blatantly failed.

No meeting with fans shows contempt for supporters and they have no genuine survival options.
I know the committee and they're fellow travellers read view this site.
So I say in the name of all that is great and good about Limerick senior football past and future tell us your plans involve the fans or go now

You are correct that there is very little to do. There are a number of options available to remove them:

    1. An appeal to the FAI to frefuse to recognise their authority as the committee of Limerick FC. This would then neccessitate an immediate meeting to elect a real committee.

    2. An appeal to their "better natures" (hey, don't all laugh at once!) to run the club in the proper manner, by standing down opening membership, and implementing proper procedures including the drafting of a constitution.

That's as perfectly put as anyone could. They have no respect for those who support the team, as my initial post noted.

The crazy thing is that they spend more time reading this than actually doing anything productive! At the moment this is our only way to communicate with those mismanaging the club - absolute lunacy!

Spot on they have failed - completely and utterly. All of the non-elected committee know who I am and I would ask them to reply to this fact in person on Thursday:

You have failed Limerick FC, it's players, management and fans. What are you going to do to make it right?

(Any replys I get on Thursday will be posted up for all to see).

all the tea in china says you don't get one reply. I've called my company solicitor(who does some work for the FAI) and asked him to look into the constitutionality of having a league of ireland club that has no appointed committees etc. I also will post any reply if theres any of interest.

Does antone know the legal liability of a committee. IS IT LIKE A PARTNERSHIP.

I am not asking this is any way to suggest fans could sue. But I would like to know is the club is a separate legal entity to the committee.
The club would appear to be in a legalistic limbo, what are the validity of contracts signed by unelected club officials.

What are the rules and regulations of the club are they in accordance with FAI rules.

I have always understood AGM's were mandatory.

When the club was based in Rathbane a condition of the licence (liquor) was that there had to be 150 members and an anual AGM. These as I understand fell by the wayside after the club was burned down. But there is definitely a precedent for committee members having to be elected.

I am sure the committee can self perpetuate by co option but I would really be interested in the legality of such a body entering into legal contracts after such a long period of no agm.

It raises issues such as insurance cover players contracts even the clubs league staus.

Hi Guys...back to work today so normal posting shall now be resumed. I cannot believe the result on Friday Last, must be the worst in many a year. Sligo did us a favour last night, lets go and win on Thurs now..it's a must win game.

In Relation to Deise's points. I have , as Chair of the SC, asked them to go along the lines of the second option. I explained to them at the last committee meeting that it was the only way forward...the only way to get investment from Fans and the only way to go re licensing etc.. I had to defend myself from it being taken as a personal attack on the committee. It was not and people should be big enough to realise that. I am tired of asking them to do the honourable thing and open the club to membership with voting rights etc. We need transparancy and accountability (I have those words as there too often used these days in the media ,but it's true). We are wasting our time plodding along like we are at the moment. I still demand the Public meeting that we were promised in July.

    Yours completly frustrated

As I posted on August 20...nobody replied...
"We can get to the Cobh match but if nothing has happened by then, a public meeting will be called to decide our future."
Words from one Mr O Sullivan..never acted upon. These words were spoken several months ago and are on record. Has anything ever happened...NO!!!
I would like to genuinely know if there is anybody out there that wants rid of these people.I have a solicitor checking the current legal standing of a self appointed committee. If it is a thing that they can be removed, are people prepared to help move them? I know that I'm not around Limerick that much, but am prepared to financially help and can raise sponsorship. I believe that there is enough of a cross section of us who can all contribute equally in different ways....Come on lads..12 players in Athlone for a big match....absolutely embarrassing!!

Joe has hit the nail on the head. Are there people who feel that the committee should be removed. It is a simple question and one that has to be answered by each supporter. When each has made the choice then what are they actually willing to do about it.

    Question

JohnD makes the point that some of the committee have taken criticism of they're efforts personally, whilst nobody should ever be unfaily criticised it does smack of an incredibly thin skin not to be able to register dis satisfaction at the way the club is being run at the current time. No critical appraisal of the current situation smacks of heads in the sand. Now is not the time for shrinking violets.

can we run a poll or something so we all know where people stand on this issue, and so we can show a united front. I believe that theres not going to be a club there in a matter of weeks now, and these bastrads don't care.

Is it feasibl to have an extra page or an insert in the fanzine with a ballot printed on it to allow supporters to vote at the game.

petition, poll, protest, anything that lets these *******s know that we're serious. The time for idle chat is over, now they have to see who it is that really has the future interests of senior soccer in Limerick at heart. I'm sick of getting laughed at by my mates who say that junior soccer in Limerick is a far more superior game. I'm also tired of enviously looking at the likes of poxy Longford Town prosper(no offence meant to Longford) while we drown and just keep getting back up for air in time.Surely we deserve better???

A lot of very good posts here. Everyone seems to be on the same wavelength, and is looking for solutions to our problem.

Posting on the net is all very well, but if we really want to get press space on our grievances we need a publicity stunt. Anyone got any ideas?
