but seriuosly this could be the turning point in our whole season

Corner I think you are spot on - these past few weeks have been superb. The lads have certainly put the Cup match behind them and playing at a different level now.

Played Shells off the park in Tolka.
Destroyed and demoralised Rovers.
Simply brushed the Drogs aside tonight.

Interesting to see the other contenders going through sticky patches - Bohs losing tonight, Rovers having an awful time of it, Waterford now begining to drop off as everyone thought would happen, Shells losing to Sligo ( if they loose in Europe during the week it could have same affect it had on Rovers ).

Cork double-act destroys Drogs

The exceptional partnership that is John O’Flynn and George O’Callaghan turned in another collectively mesmerizing performance as City destroyed Drogheda United at Turners Cross on Friday night.

O’Flynn took his tally to four goals in a week with a brilliant brace, while O’Callaghan provided the assists for three of City’s goals in the rout.

The attacking verve of O’Flynn is complemented perfectly by the magical creativity of O’Callaghan, and Cork fans will hope that they can manage to hold onto both players, who have been the subject of speculation linking them with Falkirk and Shelbourne respectively over the summer.

O’Flynn, who had ended a five-week goalless spell with the winner against Shamrock Rovers last week, netted for the Irish under-21s again in midweek before last night’s double.

He controlled a free kick from his strike partner and swivelled to send a blistering left-footed shot high to Gary Rogers’s net on 20 minutes for the lead goal.

Centre half Dan Murray got on the end of another O’Callaghan free ten minutes later to head Cork’s second.

The home side, who gave a full debut to returned defender Derek Coughlan, were cruising from that point, with Drogheda - as has become the norm - offering minimal attacking threat on their travels; they have now scored just once in three points of away games in the league.

Two goals in a minute after half an hour of the second half completed the scoring: first O’Flynn sprinted onto a through ball from skipper Greg O’Halloran to beat Rogers and then, almost straight from the kick-off, O’Callaghan set up midfielder Conor O’Grady, back from suspension and only on the field three minutes, for his side’s fourth.
