Because our recent form coming into this was absolute ****.
Because it's a 5hr+ journey that the lads would have to burden on the same day as the game.
Because Cookie's recent tactics have been baffling.
And because some (not me) would argue that our season is over already while Cobh have the relegation to fight.

Sligo will have to pay his wages. He's under contract there till the transfer window opens.

His new contract can't start with Drogs until July 1st

Well then why wasn't he playing? Or at least made travel with the squad instead of swanning around Drogheda getting settled in.

Wouldve liked too see him play one last match before he goes on the first of July. but I think that shows he wanted out of Sligo Rovers badly if he didnt want to play one last match before officially going to Drogs.

Just in case anyone takes it the wrong way, I'm not saying it was Faz's decision not to play. It's a question for Paul Cook really as he picked the team.

I doubt Faz was going to be a part of the team anyways but we still did well without 3-1 was a decent result.

No, just don't see why we pay his wages if he's not going to be even at the match.

The game is up at this stage, he's gone, there was little point in him traveling. Cook was never gonna play him.

It is **** that we're paying his wages for the week.

Good result, as usual we made hard work of it. Could have won by a lot more than 2 but missed a few decent chances and lost our way a bit towards the end. Only for a great save from Brush late on it could have been a nervous last few minutes. Boco had a great game, despite missing the pen and another good chance shortly after, very good on the ball, rarely wasted possesion and gave Cobh's defenders the run around countless times. Bullet of a header then to top off a fine performance.

Also worth mentioning Raff at left back, looks much more comfortable there than on the wing

    Great result.

Cook's tactic of playing a big(ger) man up front (Murphy) along with 3 smaller attackers (Boco, Cretaro and Doherty) worked wonders in the first 15 minutes - Cobh just couldn't handle the pace and movement of the 3. I couldn't believe how easy Doherty's goal was. Anto's finish for the 2nd was real quality, wait 'til ye see it on MNS. Boco's penalty was on target but weak - went for placement and the goalie guessed right.
Cobh hit the bar after the 2nd goal with a great free kick and then had a good chance from a corner. Directly after this, we carved them apart with one of the best counter-attacking moves I've seen from us all year - again, Boco's finish was the only thing that was missing.
Not so much to shout about in the 2nd half. Boco's goal was a free header from a corner, and Cobh's goal was the result of McKenzie slipping and letting their man through.

I wouldn't get too carried away with this result though, as Cobh were pretty awful for the most part. Harder tests to come. Still, we'd better enjoy the feeling while it lasts, coz we won't get too many 3-1 wins away from home this year.

Rovers were very professional last night and were by far the better team. I thought Peers and Boco were very good. Much improved performance by Doherty but would and should have received a few more passes. Butler(played well) and Almeida went off injured so hopefully both of them are ok for Derry next week.

That was a great move alright, some neat passing and Butler pinged it in to Ventre who lifted it in to Boco with a great touch, shame he missed though.

    Smile

Great trip, great win. We'll have to savour it cos it's seldom we win away from home!!About 35 rovers fans at it,not too bad.Very poor home crowd.First ten minutes was unreal, felt like a dream! It must be said that cobh were muck but twas a professional performance by us.An unbelievable save by brush towards the end prevented a similiar finish to that of the shams game.Anto played well as did peers(as per usual,I've yet to see him play a poor game under paul cook),boco, ogrady(worked very hard) and butler until he got injured.I was impressed by mckenzie as well.It was great to see doherty get on the scoresheet and you could see him getting more confidence after it,he had a few nice touches and had a lot of space(especially in the 1st half) and we could have used to this to our advantage more.Hopefully we can push on now after this,it would be great to beat derry next week.If the injuries to butler and almeida are bad we would be fairly fooked.

good result, enjoyable trip too, we were unlucky not to score 5 in the first half, although as Donal said, if Brushy hadnt made that great save second half it would have been tense. thought bringing 30 or so to Cobh is pretty good for a north west team. Thought Anto and Chris Butler were brilliant, no disappointment really from the whole game, maybe just Boco's penalty miss, he was unlucky when he was one on one with the Cobh keeper, was more of a case of a decent save than bad finishing.
