I've seen that Birra Moretti stuff in an off licence here in Ranelagh. The name of the offy escapes my mind but it's quite good for finding obscure beers.

Would love to get my paws on Paulaner Hefe-DunkelWeiss, had it when I was in Berlin earlier this summer. It's a lovely beer, hard to describe the flavour but it's better than regular Paulaner.

Also one that's not so much obscure as it is ignored by a lot of beer drinkers. Erdinger Dunkel, you'll find it next to all the regular Erdinger Weissbier bottles in most offys, is quite a nice beer.

Another vote for Estralla Damm. Last time I was in Barcelona, a trip to the pub coincided with happy hour and bottles of beer for a euro. They were in aluminium type "bottles" and ice, ice cold. Superb stuff

Anyone know where I can get this in Dublin (or surrounds)? I'd even considering travelling to get it...

They seem to be trying to get into the market, at least in Belfast anyway. Posters up and things.
Not the greatest fan of it though. There's a load of chemical stuff in it. Read the ingredients on the back next time. (why is it only use and the Brits who don't require an ingredient list on alcohol products?)

I bought some in Derry during the Euro Championships to lend a more European flavour to my football-watching boozing.

Got it in the offy at Rafters (anyone from Derry will know it).

I'm not back up in Derry before our Setanta game in Richer, otherwise I'd bring some down.

If I see it around I'll post on here.

Just thought I would start a thread to appreciated beer and to recommend any good beers that you may have tasted on your travels to either your local off licence or further afield. Favourites of mine are Maisel Weisse from the wheat beer variety.

Am not much of an oddball beer type but I did get a couple of absolute belters in for Christmas, normally try a couple of different ones to get something unusual in, but hit the jackpot first time with these.
Baltika 5 is a pure gorgeous malty, caramel-y lager, and Fuller's Honey Dew, a lovely golden ale with a delicious honey flavour.

(Edit to say they were both from the local off-licence which if I remember right is a Carry Out)

Also I must reiterate my support for Cisk Export from Malta, Estrella Damm from Barcelona, and both Nastro Azzuro and Birra Moretti from Italy.

Aye, was done before I think... My vote still goes to Lasko (Slovenia) for Lager.

Value for Money, hard to beat anything in the Holts range in Manchester - their Bitter for me, but the Diamond lager is good too.

A few good beers mentioned on here, but I've never had a nicer beer than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - even non-beer drinkers I know have said it's brilliant
