well chiefo --- i can only recommend it to you , tbh i cant recommend it highly enough mate -- now i am a batman fan and maybe i am judging it with rose tinted glasses - but i dont think i am

every1 has their views and thats fair enough --- go see it tonite and make up your own mind - and post your opinion tomorrow - will be interested to hear your thoughts
i loved batman begins - went and saw it 4 times in cinema -not much of a social life back then (-; - thought it was awesome but for me TDK eclipses it by a long long way

i like pike and so many thousands of others around the world think it is a classic

yeah - very fair point - i suppose thats the genius of nolan -- he keeps a certain element of realism in it - and thinking about it again and your point - i agree - maybe best to keep penguin out of the 3rd one and keep a more realistic side to things

Part of the beauty of loving films(or music) are the disagreements between people who have seen the same thing but saw the same thing differently.

Last night I was fascinated to read the polarizing views on BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR DEAD on Rottentomatos.
Its amazing how paid reviewers can see/interpret performances, script and direction so differently.

Not the best ever made, but for me, the best Movie ever in the Comic Hero genre. Surpassing Batman Begins and Tim Burton's Batman aswell as Sin City.

Can't see it. With Nolan and Bale aswell as the excellent Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, it would take a real blip for them to mess this up. I think if there is a part 3, and they are all involved and it is up to Batman Begins standards, then it could possibly be the best trilogy of all time.
Think about it, Jedi, Godfather3, Alien 3, Back to the Future 3 they all let the ball slip after 2 amazing parts. Fingers crossed for Batman.

Finally got to see it last night and it's a HUGE film in scope and scale. I'd need to see it again to try and absorb everything.

The joker is brilliant, when he isn't on screen you want him back in the mix. He disappears for a while in the middle (or appeared that way)..... but what a display from Ledger. RIP. A brilliant performance and it's a shame he isn't alive to receive the plaudits. I did however hear a lot of people laughing whenever he was on screen which surprised me. Even when he was shuffling around and twitching they were in stitches?! I have to admit there is a few dark/black comedy moments that always make me laugh whatever the film (I'm usually alone in that regard) but not every scene. I will say that when the joker meets the mob mosses for the first time = pure cinema gold. I don't want to say any more for those that haven't seen it. I have a couple of queries about the film but will wait for more people on here to see it before I ask them. Don't want to spoil the plot etc.

Did Nolan try and cram too much into it? Could he have held back Harvey Dent's transformation? It's a little overlong (though the time flew for me) but so much happened I'll have to buy the DVD for the little bits I may have missed. Also what the hell is up with Bale's voice when he is in the batsuit? Does he have too talk in such a gruff lispy voice that you have to strain to hear what he is saying?! Did he sound like that in Batman Begins?

It is definitely wide open for a third movie but I'd love to see Nolan go and do something different for a little while. Something smaller scale - + he probably needs a rest after setting up some of the biggest action sequences ever filmed.

He used a similar speaking voice for Batman in Begins. He has more dialogue in this one as Batman though. I didn't struggle to understand it, but I do know one or two people who find it annoying.

I'd imagine he will do something smaller first, yes. He made The Prestige between the two Batman films.

If there wasn't so much hype about this being "the best movie ever made", and Ledgers performance "probably the best performance ever" I might have come away and said, "Great movie".

But because of all the hype I was left feeling a tad disappointed, and a little numb around the ass because of the unnecessary length of the movie. Bale doesn't do it for me as Batman. I can't put my finger on it, but theres something not right. Ledger was indeed brilliant in his role, and definitely stole the show, but the seriousness and overall darkness of the movie took from my childhood memories of Batman, the caped crusader with the juvenile sidekick, and full of slapstick sayings and humour.

All in all, well worth going to see, but nowhere near the ultimate classic it is being touted as in my book. I enjoyed Iromnam as much...that sums it up for me.

personally i loved bales batman voice - the darkness of it - i think he is a great actor - i loved the way he could go from the sleazy playboy bruce wayne to the more concerned bruce wayne to the darkness that was batman - great performance i thought

ledger - what more can we say - agree 100% - yeah that scene at the start with the mob bosses -- well F**k me - WOW - awesome

would love to talk about it more - but like you mate - i dont wanna spoil the plot for the people who have yet to see it.
Yeah definitely setup for batman 3 imo - great ending i thought

im sure we all have queries and opinions on where nolan goes with the franchise now - but like u say lets wait for a while tilll more people get to see it

maybe a bit overlong - but there was alot to fit in - but it flew - i really believe its best to see it again to absorb more - hence why im heading to my second viewing tonight

Too much crammed in for me too. SPOILER: I feel it would have been better ending around the hospital scene with Two Face featuring in the 3rd film, the transformation feels sudden and rushed, the character almost seems wasted. The voice didn't really bother me, at least it makes it more difficult to identify him as Bruce Wayne.

spot on PassingInterest I'd have stopped at the * SPOILER* SPOILER: hospital scene as well. If there is to be a third movie then batman needs to be in a spiral of depression after losing his love. Confused and filled with rage they could set the first act up as a guy losing control. Hunted by the police and hated by everybody it would head into dark territory. Just a pity Heath isn't around to join in on the fun.

Not the biggest fan of the comic book genre but loved it, regressed into being an awe struck 12 year old at times-which is what I want from these films.

Agree with some of the quibbles on here but not enough to take away my enjoyment from a packed epic.

Who in undergoodness will dare to take on the role of the Joker in the next one??!
Would be like dating a girl who has just broke up with Brad Pitt.

I suspect that Nolan's Batman universe will keep Joker locked up in Arkham for some time to come.

Just watched it and thought it was great. The only two problems I would have had is with the recently spoilered parts (I concur) and the sonar sequence near the end (didn't sit right for whatever reason. Ledger was fantastic, played the more twisted Joker to a tee (I don't think they should recast the Joker by the way, Nolan plans to end this as a Trilogy I hear so we shouldn't see the Joker again), Eckhart played Harvey Dent superbly as well, actually all the cast were very good. I've heard people criticise Bale as Batman, but I think he plays the dark side of Batman as well as Ledger played the Joker to be fair, oh and the villians (and in particular the Joker)always steal the show in Batman, be it on the small screen, the silver screen, or the graphic novel, we identify more with the bad guy as a society, just the way it is with storytelling in this day and age

Fantastic film. Went to see it last night, thought it'd be getting quieter but it was still packed. The time just flew by. Ledger as the joker deserves all plaudits - he must have put in so much work to get into that mindset - you could never understand why he is so psychotic which makes it all the more frightening. People are always terrified of that.

I thought Bale was just as good as Ledger in his role. He had to adjust from being the high living playboy to the thoughtful billionaire to the vigilante saving Gotham city. Really he had three characters he had to portray.

Eckhart was also brilliant as were the majority of the cast. There's so much to take in. I'll definitely have to see it again to fully understand some of it.
