Was at the RSC last nite for the U21s v Dutch game.
5,000 approx at it, but they are attractive opposition let's be fair. If it had been raining last night I reckon only those with stand tickets (1-2000) would have bothered going as the place is wide open to the elements.
Cork is crying out for games like this. The big difference between RSC & TX was floodlights. The pitch too was fine it must be said. Other than that, the Cross has more going for it, so why can't we get U21 games in Cork?
The other facilities @ the RSC (portaloos, James!) were not great.
In favour of TX:
1) More PERMANENT seating
2) More Cover
3) Better view of the pitch (temp seating @ RSC only 4 rows 'high') and back from the pitch due to running track
I accept other venues should also host games, and WUFC did a fine job, but it's now 11 years since Cork had a game at this level and IMO that's too long for a city of this size.
We need floodlights for high profile games.
Gerry
PS Well done to WUFC for producing a fine programme to mark the event.
Floodlights that is!
