That doesn't mean there won't be tickets available should we qualify. The F.A.I. will recieve an allocation as always if we are there.
And anyway with the TST's you don't get caught if your country doesn't qualify.

sorry, where will the best place to get tickets be then if not from FAI, and the ones from FIFA are sold out? Is there a separate allocation of tickets given to MATCH? If so, do you know when they go on sale? sorry, this wound me up today.
couldn't afford to have my credit card charged for tickets now but come June i will be ok. will be mortified if we qualify and I can't get tickets, cos I've been planning the trip since we failed to qualify for 2006!!
The FAI may still be allocating those tickets. It isn't clear and I think it is too much to read into one report albeit from a reputable source.
I reckon the TSTs are gone to fans not touts.
I still reckon tickets will be OK in the end unless we draw England or Brazil.
i think tickets shouldnt be too much trouble although what concerns me is the way MATCH may allocate the tickets. I understand that there is a shortage of hotel rooms in SA. Could it be that they will tie in tickets with accommodation packages like the RWC and other international events? I am also concerned that if the FAI have no input then the tickets could end up with anyone whether they are a regular fan or just an event junky
my hotel for Nigata (cameroon WC02) was booked through FIFA as they had booked up most hotels in the venue cities and then sold them onto fans. the hotel i booked was mad expensive for what it was and took an age to get sorted
hopefully my fears are wrong but i would like to hear details as soon as possible (obviously have to qualify first!)
I don't think there will be a particular shortage of hotel rooms in the cities, SA gets about 10m visitors a year, the likes of Durban, Cape Town & Jo'Burg will be well equiped to deal with large numbers. Should Ireland qualify & once the draw is made there will obviously be a rush but the major centres will be fine, if we end up in Bloem or Polokwane it might be a different story
Travel agents are getting a separate ticket allocation for the first time since 1994. They lost their tickets after a total ripoff of fans.
No question in my mind, that touts will have made multiple applications for TST's for UK and Ireland and possibly Scotland and Netherlands, knowing that these fans travel in large numbers and are more used to paying overpriced touts tickets.
The admin fee, should Ireland/Scotland, not qualify would be neglible compared to the 'profit' these guys will make on the tickets they do manage to source for qualified teams.
They will have all the data required to make what appear 'legitimate' applications and probably alreafdy do so with UEFA for Champions League / Uefa Cup Final tickets and the like.

It's a good shout. The touts certainly will have applied for and got plenty of tickets for this WC. They are organised as you say with call centre operations particularly in the U.S. The same organisations will end up with the travel agents tickets as well. This is the real scandal in my view.
I'm not convinced they would have gone for our TSTs though. Our chances of qualifying up until the end of March were approx 30%.
I reckon the touts would have most likely picked individual games rather than risk TSTs for countries that may not make it. I chose to go this route to guarantee some tickets rather than risk us not qualifying and end up with nothing. If we make it and I don't get Irish tickets I'll clearly regret this decision.
However in the end I think ticketsw ill be easy to get and would have no intention of paying touts unless I'm ticketless outside the stadium.
The touts will get a certain amount for sure. But when passport i d numbers were required it would surley make their multiple applications more difficult for them.
Requests for passport ids and dob etc are just to weed out multiple applications. These are easily made up and are not checlked. The Department of Foreign Affairs will not give out our passport numbers to FIFA. So unless 2 people give the same passport number then it won't be found out.
The one thing they did do to discourage touts is insist on a local pickup. So these agents will need to fly somebody to SA in April 09 to pickup their tickets.
You are probably right gspain. I hadn't thought about the passport numbers not being checked.
I met some of the guys tied up in that ole ole website before and they are big into doing multiple applications for all the major tournaments. They are American. I had thought that the passport number thing would stop that but I suppose it won't.
How many games did you get?
They are 2 tickets for 18 games between 4. 6 games are definitely mine and I'll hopefully have first call on 1 ticket for many of the others as I did the coordinating. All are valid applications with real names, passport numbers and credit cards but we will end up using different tickets. They never check the names on tickets not to mind passport numbers. AS you need to collect the tickets in SA meeting up to swop them might prove a challenge.
My priority is as many different venues as possible and at a minimum the 7 around Jo'burg. We'll do some horse-trading then to sort it out.
Ironically if we qualify I'll be there for much longer but most likely see fewer games (possibly just ours) as I'll most likely bring my daughters.
As there is nothing that can be planned if we get there (we could end up anywhere) I'm planning as much as possible based on us not getting there.
One of our crew is currently on a recce mission following the Lions. Another friend is going to a lot of the Confederations Cup matches.
I really don't expect tickets to be a problem apart from Brazil, England and Bafana Bafana.
GSpain unfortunately I am having to agree with you, despite by heart wishing it wasn’t true.
I've been very supportive & complimentary of the organising committee here but they have screwed up for the confed cup, they should have pitched 50% of the tickets at 50-100 rand a ticket and made sure to sell the games out. The half empty stadiums are doing nobody any favours, even the opening game Bafana v’s Iraq didn’t sell out as corporates returned 3,000 tickets at the last minute.
The Lions tour is suffering from a combination of a big no-show in travelling support & overpriced tickets. They expected 30 thousand plus, 30% of all tickets were allocated to Lions fans (mainly in package deals) thousands of which have been returned unsold, Thomas Cook in the UK are now selling individual test tickets have refused to split their package deals initially, you can pick up test tickets on gumtree here for face value, as recently as a week ago there was no tickets under double face value,
I think unless there is a big economic shift there will be a lot less travelling fans and tickets are too expensive for local fans so there should be plenty available.
Half Empty stadiums won't make or break the world cup imo.
Even at $20 I can't see too many locals wanting to see North Korea v Paraguay.
Korea 02 and Italia 90 saw many games played in half empty stadia. The world cup in these places was still a huge success. There should be massive interest among the local population and hopefully the organisation and security will be OK. Every Italian ate slept and drank football for the month of the World Cup.
You'd hope if Zambia make it they'll bus in thousands of fans. Ghana and the Ivory Coast look good to qualify but might be too far away to bring large support.
I'd love to see the guys selling ripoff packages take a dive.
The problem with buying tickets on the black market is the concern re re-issued tickets. I'll probably still take my chances if it comes to it.
I have a few for Cape Town if you want to take that in on your tour.
I wouldn't think there will be any reissuing of tickets as there is no postage involved.
