That's correct from what I hear. It will run simultaneously with Junior and Schoolboys Leagues.
What's the latest on this? Is the proposal going ahead? Heard rumours that it's going to be pushed back to September and run simaultaneously with the junior league season. Can't see that working too well as it will be out of synch with the eircom league and will deprive junior clubs of players.

What junior clubs would this effect (Kerry League, Letterkenny Rover, Salthill Devon, Ballinasloe Town, Mullingar any others). The Sept kick-off will allow students etc to head off for the summer and the clash between dual players (football & GAA players) will not happen as much.
It won't be run along with the USL as its switching to summer football. Their season finished in December with the new season to start around march time.
Id prefer the u-20 season was run at the same time as the LOI. If a player showed his worth to step up to the senior team then he would have to play almost all year round. Theres some exciting young players coming through at Harps so hopefully they can make the grade in a few years time.
The U20 League is going to affect all Schoolboy/Junior Clubs throughout the country as the Eircom League Clubs are already hitting on U17/U18 players currently playing in Schoolboy Leagues to come to their U20 teams.I know for a fact at least one Eircom League Club has approached a local U17 team and asked them to come so removing them from their local clubs U18s for next year.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Isn't the A League meant to start later on in the year aswell?
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

G.O'Mahoney Trapattoni'll sort ém out!!
I am not saying that at all, what a I am saying is that they should encourage schoolboy clubs to complete their development up to and including U18 as this particular team are handing over 7 players, the rest won't stay with all the best players gone so the club has lost a whole age group. The 20's season should run as the 21's did and then the kids can have the best of both worlds, let the clubs reach agreement with their local U21's team and let the kids play in both leagues. It would mean that if the player was not making the grade at the older age group he would still have a team to play with.
Very Difficult to get any information from the FAI on the new U20s league structure for next season!!!
Any of ye guys out there have any info, rumours or news?
Ciao
Lovely stuff.
Hopefully a letter is sent out to all clubs inviting applicants.
You are either pro or amateur, there is no in between!
Just wondering does anyone have a break down of who is in each group for the start of the u 20 league??
There's none yet.

Im involved with a club who are looking to secure a place in the U20s division for the 2008-2009 and we are finding it very hard to get any real information on applications, number of teams, criteria etc...
We are in, we are out.........
So if anybody has info please pass it on
Ciao
