    GPS Mouse

...or usb gps receiver. Or possibly serial.
I know very little about this, but am cobbling together bits'n'bobs for a kind of project. I can't do bluetooth. There seem to be plenty knocking about on eBay, but what minimum spec. should I be looking for? (number of channels etc.)

there's a "take it with you, plug in later" device on special offer in Maplin at the moment. Might not be what you're looking for.

Why not bluetooth? Dongles (curse the marketeer who invented that word) are very very cheap.

Ok maybe I can do bluetooth. I'll be using an old laptop, so one of these dongles that you speak of should sort out my connection, yes?

Also, I have seen anything from 12 to 32 channels. How reliable is a 12 channel one?

Edit: I have read of bluetooth dropping the signal more often. Is this true?

The usb dongle plugs into the USB port at the back of your computer. The usb key is the actual bluetooth device that communicates with your mouse. So any device that has a usb port can use bluetooth mouse.
