The night Reynolds "returned" to The Cross..........!

Just thought I'd give you a quick review of "The Rat's" return to The Cross.........as I know you guys have similar feelings for him if slightly less vocal.

In the days leading up the local Echo and Examiner were printing subtle reminders of his return and "how he would recieve a WARM welcome" ....... clever. Add to that the "frenzy" that was building on City 'sites and Foot.ie.

There were hundreds of flyers passed out in the pubs beforehand with "Judas" printed. When he came out for the game he was met with the loudest barage of jeering and whistles I have heard in 10 years @ The Cross and everyone at the Shed end held up these flyers..........it was something to see.

Midway through the first half then this huge banner was unfurled in the She with the words "Reynolds: Rot in Hell". It made the reports on 4 of Saturday's papers.

The atmosphere was absolutely electric for the whole game, with 6,500 - 7,000 City fans in an absolute frenzy for the game ( it really was up there with last seasons 3-2 win against the same shower ).

Everytime he touched the ball he was barracked.

He then got one of Georgies free kicks into the nuts ( he stood in the wall for Chri$t sake .... talk about target practice..... and in front of the Shed........what a laugh ) and went down needing attention. It was the only time in the game City players didn't kick the ball out of touch ........ the ref had to stop play himself....interesting. Barry Ryan gave the Shed this dissapproving look afterwards which only provoked more barraking ( imagine 1,100 opposing fans at that end of the ground giving you grief........!)

The final straw and embarrasement for him came when he was taken off with 20 mins to go.

It was a long walk to the side and the whole ground stood and gave him a hard time. He went straight down the tunnel and wasn't seen again.

He'll remember Friday night for a while.

By the way Rovers as a team bottled it on the night.

Definately a case of the fans being worth a goal.

Save it for yourselves - we told you what he was like, you ignored us, so it serves you right.... At least we spotted him for what he was before he even left us...

    Reynolds

As a city fan I think too much was made of his "return".

He was only a half decent player anyway and he might be the kind of guy who'd enjoy the attention.

By the way there was never 6,500 to 7,000 at the game. 4,000 I'd say.
    I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?
