Heading off shortly so cheers for that.
Heading off shortly so cheers for that.
I have a feeling there is ginna be an awful crowd tonight.
1- sligo are playing in the gah tomorrow
2- eoro 2008 is on
3- we're playing ucd
4-Lots of junior certs and leaving certs will be out celebrating their freedom
5- The weather is crap
We really need a big crowd tonight considering we have had very little income in the last few weeks but it's hard to be optimistic. Leds hope the lads can do the business on the field anyway!
it was OK of a game .a terrific second half made up for a poor first half. 0-0 final score but really got into it in the second half and 2 crosses almost going in, and Anto had the best chance of the night forcing a good save from Matt Gregg. Congrats to Raff on winning MOTM deserved it he was outstanding the whole night. And tonight was game the first game we didnt see Johnny Chadda when we walk through the gates. Also considering the weather I think we got a fairly decent crowd anyone know the estimated crowd ? Hope next week we can beat Cobh after there 5-0 loss they mightened be to confident going in to it.

The most notable display this evening was Jamie McKenzie. I thought he was a cert for the man of the match award. He barley put a foot wrong all day. Raf put in a good performance but wasted some of the possession he had.
Was impressed with some of the football played by UCD, the game was a massive improvement on the visit to the Bowl.
Would question Cook's decision to bring on both Feeney and Judge simultaneously. Was Murphy injured? We lost some of our shape with his withdrawal and Faz was not as effective playing deeper.
Alan Moore did play well when he came on. He did a lot more this evening than many of his other appearances.
Whats that comin' over the hill
It's the Monster,
The Cookie Monster!
UCD deserved to be in front by half time. Ronan Finn was the best player on the pitch at that stage, he caused plenty of problems for our defence and O'Grady who seemed to be tracking him (why?), leaving huge gaps in the middle of the park.
Our second half performance was good, but it highlighted our need for a goal poacher, sombody who comes alive in the box. We have some good, neat ball players who play effectively outside the box, but we really need a sniffer inside.
I agree the subsitution of Feeney for Murphy was a subsitution just for the sake of making a subsitution. I saw no purpose in this move, in fact we lost a lot of mobility in midfield as a result of it.
A draw was a fair result.
"Overwhelmed"
Rovers were raped down the left hand side Ventre and Doherty are hopeless. Any sort of ball down there in first half especially had Rovers in big problems. The two of them have to go they are not worth a sh ite. Showed more comittment in second half with certain players showing more urgency Cretaro, Brush, McKensie and Peers. Sidenote with Faz, took hopeless short corner in second half leading to some of crowd to react, next thing he reacted by making funny faces back. He was already going through the motions let him take rubbish short corners somewhere else.
Predictably,a useless match.Despite an improved 2nd half performance,ya can't say we deserved a win.Judge had the chance to win it at the end when he dragged his shot wide.In that moment our season ended. Doherty doesn't put in the effort, not the type of player we want at the club. Some may disagree but I think danny ventre is a poor footballer.Maybe he was played out of position but he has no footballing brain or sense of postioning. Strangely anto has yet to play a full game for us.I don't why we took him off because he was our main threat,a very strong runner with the ball.I've heard he isn't leaving and I really hope its true. The problem tonight(and other nights) is that midfield didn't link up with the strikers. There were a couple of occasions when faz was going forward and there was nobody in front of him.We really missed boco, who is so good at linking things up and keeping attacks flowing. In all fairness we were all over the shop tonight, there was no shape. At times there was nobody on the left flank.I'm sorry but this was a must win game and we needed to take the risk.Fair play to raf, peers, almeida and ogrady,as usual they gave their all.As said mckenzie played well too. This was a game we HAD to win but we didn't deserve it.Such a dissapointment. The crowd could have been worse, surprisingly.Roll on cobh!!
i have been close to fans who have criticised fazs work rate at the last two games v shams and ucd. on both occasions he has told the fans quite clearly to fu*k off and i dont think this is acceptable.
if the fans concerned pay their money they are entitled to their opinion in my view and a player is wrong to get involved in verbals with them.
i have a lot of respect for faz as a footballer but have lost a lot of respect for him as a person after this.
players sometimes forget that sligo rovers have saved faz from what looked liked an ailing career after his release from swindon.
we pay his wages and its hard enough to get people through the gates without having players behaving like faz.
A fan on this forum shouted something like 'Show a bit of fcuking effort Faz' after he didnt tackle and then be began to jog,got the point across
RIP JOHNNY
so true.lets see Faz tell Cookie to fcuk off when he shouts at him thoughHe was really getting into it this season for us but hes just not on form tonight or last week.I'd say thats his last match at the Showgrounds in a Rovers jersey. Matthew Judge is starting to show is form again you know hes starting to fight for the ball and trying harder too get the goals hope Judge can keep it up. Unless Anto was injured why did he come off ? hes our main threat the whole night he also had our best chance of scoring. Just out of curiosity was it an all Sligo crowd last night ?

It doesn't matter, he's simply not good enough. He looks so unfit too, was out of breath for most of last nights game and UCD players had the pace on him anytime they ran at him. Keith Foy would be a better option there last night, he's not as fast but he rarely got caught out of position.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
I missed the team announcments last night was faz on his own up front from the start ? I didnt see anyone up there with him. if Judge started I feel he might have gotten a goal for us. He did good when he came on fought for the ball and was unlucky to see a shot go inches wide.
