Really sorry to hear this; had been aware of him for a while but read his full story in the programme for the Sligo/ Bohs match in March.
RIP
Sad news for Sligo Rovers, and for all of us who believe in League of Ireland football.
Johnny's unstinting belief in the value of a community-based club since his arrival from India 55 years ago was an example to all. A true giant among men, he will be missed.
Tributes from Willie McStay, Lawrie Sanchez and David Pugh.
"Even if the wind stops to blow
Even if the sea ceases to flow
Even if the sun ceases to rise
The name of Sligo Rovers will shine and shine forever like the morning star glittering in the sky."
Really sorry to hear this; had been aware of him for a while but read his full story in the programme for the Sligo/ Bohs match in March.
RIP
A patriot is someone who knows how to hate his country properly.
That is really sad news. Johnny was an absolute gentleman and it was always a pleasure to meet him when visiting the showgrounds.
RIP. Don't know much about the man but sounds like a true legend.

Ever get the feelin' you have been cheated?
Can't say I'd ever heard of him, but he seems to have been genuinely respected and liked.
I hope this genuine fan of domestic football will rest in peace.
Sad news. Met him when I went up for Sligo v. Floriana years ago. Lovely chap

Is there anywhere I can read up on the origins of the man? I'm fascinated by his story even though I'd never heard of him til this week. Great banner by the way.
