The inaugural Eircom League Supporters Cup will take place this Saturday, 14th June, at Mervue United FC.
The tournament is five-a-side, on astroturf, and is starting at 1.00pm. The Eircom League Supporters Cup trophy will be presented to the winning team at a function later that night at Fibber Magees, Eyre Square (9.00pm). There will be a DJ afterwards and finger food will be served.
All Galway United supporters are invited to both the tournament itself, and the presentation.
Congrats to the Athlone Supporters Team who won the inaugural Eircom League Fans cup in Mervue this afternoon.
They beat one of the GUST teams 3-2 in the final.
Not a great turn out, but hopefully we'll build it up over the next couple of years
Everything went smoothly today, apart from the weather. Thanks to the referees, Mervue United FC and those who helped with the organisation of the competition.
Bigger and better next season, hopefully an increase to sixteen teams, sponsor, programme, etc. Perhaps the tournament could be held over two days ?
