This is the first time the Euros have been on regular US TV. Previously they were on PPV.

Yeah Tommy is quite the rags to riches story, met him at an Irish function a couple of years ago in NYC, sound man. Don't like his "Smythisms" though that he overplays e.g. "bulge in the ole' onion bag" etc. He was the Grand Marshall for this years NYC St Paticks Day parade.

"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.

The coverage of USA 94 was embarassing and insulting, they took a hockey guy, Al Trautwig, with no knowledge of football what so ever and made him a commentator, just awful.

Thankfully this is 2008. I have to say their coverage of Euro 2008 has been top notch(Tommy Smyth aside).

    Agreed, its been superb.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

I spend a lot of my time in the US and the ESPN coverage of this Euro's has been excellent. Much better than the Beeb's or ITV's. Derek Rae (Scottish) is the main commentator and he is up there with the best. They show every game live and then repeat them later on that night. The coverage is nothing like it used to be ala 1994 or worse still 1984 (10 mins of European cup (final) Back to the question. Nevada Smith's is a great bar for watching the games but you will need to get there at least 2 hours before the Euro's final Neil or you won't get it in. It gets mobbed and they operate a door policy when a certain amount of people come in. Loads of bars around Smith's showing the game so you will have no problems. Now if Russia get to the final you have to go to this place http://www.russianvodkaroom.com/.
