    You will be missed

I had the pleasure of knowing Johnny first as a teacher and then as a Rovers fan. Don't ask me how, but he always remembered my name. The words on this thread have brought a lump to my throat. Johnny you will be missed terribly.

Johnny had been involved with Rovers since coming to Sligo over half a century ago from the Punjab and in that time served in every position at the club. Once inside the gate at The Showgrounds, he'd be one of the very first people you'd see, selling raffle or golden-goal tickets and exuding the eternal optimism of a long-time Rovers fan.

Nice is a word which isn't very fashionable anymore but it fits the great man perfectly. On the worst of Showgrounds days, the sight of Johnny working away could lift your spirits.

On the Sligo Rovers website last week there was a story about a club member meeting Johnny in The Showgrounds. There was no match on but he was standing on the terraces and looking out at the pitch, perhaps seeing the past and players who were gone. Though Johnny is gone, Rovers fans will still see him every time they visit The Showgrounds.

Don't know who's blog this is but found this bit funny:
