Seamus Conneely was named in Setanta Sport's team of the week for his display against Pats

Seriously not trying to be smart and he did ok for a rookie but he should'nt be in there over anyone else, if you look back over the two goals conceded he was at fault for both.
The first the winger that in behind him and put the ball in for Quigley.
And for the second Quigley beat him easily in the air, Fitzy lost it with him about it, if you rewatch the highlights you'll see this too.
I don't think he should have got in over anyone else on the basis of this, the other 9 outfield players were more deserving, I think it shows you have to take these teams with a pinch of salt after all whoever picks them can't possibly watch all the games, so you'd wonder where they get there info'?
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
good performance and a serious jump up from cobh game - but at the end of the day only 1 point
the local media would have you believe it was a cup final victory
yes it was entertaining, yes they played well but we need points and fast
we dominated so much we should have won - its not the first time this season a performance deserved more
we need 3 points away to rovers - dont care how - the most dour 1-0 will do

wes is a complete liability - his reading of the game when its at pace is rubbish
for the second goal he was ball watching and in no mans land 5 metres from the goals scorer
if its a slow ball or in the air he can be effective - but how many times is he 5 metres off the pace
every game he gives a goal away
he was at it last year and was dropped - i dont understand how he has held his place this year even with all the injuries![]()

Wes has been one of our best players over the last 4/5 games and the defence was all over the shop for the 2nd goal because our free in their half didnt beat the first man so both Wes and Fitzy had to cover for Reggi who had pushed on and Seamus Coneely had to cover the centre half position.

Completely disagree with this view. I think Wes has done very well at centre half when he has played there. At times he has epitomised heart in a team many have accused of being gutless at times.
As to the criticism of his displays last year, I'm sure you'll recall he scored 3 goals in Terryland, and we won the 3 matches. How many did we win at home last season?
One other very important fact - He puts in a huge amount of work off the pitch. He has shown up at numerous Junior club functions, and community initiatives in schools. He is always personable and good with young players. He has more than paid his way as an employee of this club for me at least.
The reception he gets from the Sligo and Bray supporters shows how well he is regarded at those two clubs & based on what I have seen of him in Galway, it is a regard he has well earned.
Supporters of other clubs have been very harsh about him this season & that's fair enough. For me, with the possible exception of his days at left full, he has rarely let us down. On age grounds alone, he may be coming to the end of his spell in the Eircom league, I don't know, but for me, he owes us very little on or off the field.

What are YOU doing to make it better?
seems like im not on my own then
a goal a game lads - dont care how sound he is

well the club is in the sh!t but the old talk of top 4 says how up in the clouds the powers that be were - we were so fortunate to stay up last season

from your posts gufct I always took it that you are either directly or indirectly involved with the club and would have a fair degree of actual knowledge (compared to those incl. myself who rely on opinion or rumour!!). Am I right in saying this?
and if so....Is the current situation really that serious??
With the disbandment of the Management Committee and the elected GUST representatives having no position within the club structure, it's hard to know what's really going on. This lack of representation only encourages rumour, speculation and creates a void between the club and its supporters.
Couldnt have put it better myself its actually alienated a lot of people who worked for nothing for the club for 10/15 and over 20 years. The only people who are respected are the ones being paid the days of volunteerism with GUFC was dismantled systematically so leaving certain people do as they please without any debate within the club.

Corby is not on his own, there are many of us who don't rate Wes, including the manager, or else he would have got rid of Fenn or Fitzgerald instead of him. He may be a lovely lad, but that doesn't make him a good player. And weren't you on this management c'tee? Your bitterness does you no favours, you're efforts for the club volunteering and all that are to be commended, but it doesn't give you a right to be bad mouthing the board just because that mid-level committee is gone

mid level commitee thats some insult to the people who bursted their nuts for years keeping this club going. Keep believing the spin because there are a lot of people feeling the exact same as Saigon and myself.
There is no bitterness if there was would i still be doing my work but I wont stand idly by with my mouth shut if I dont agree with the way the club is going.

Look, I'm not trying to be insulting, but you tell me to take with a pinch of salt the 'spin' being put out by the club. If I do, then I am buying into your 'spin'. I'll take my chances with the club's 'spin'. And by the way, what is this spin you speak of? That the club is financially short of targets and had to release players?
