Back from France lastnight. Just arrived in work to be greeted by a backlog of work and a weeks bills on my desk, oh and a cd too! I'll give it a listen later on, but already the thought of Bakerman has cheered me up.

Good man for including Santogold, Shadow and Cornershop tracks, all good 'uns too Haven't listened to the last 5 tracks but am driving down to Cork later on so it shall be stuck on and listened to thoroughly
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
Laidback was on heavy rotation on MTV at the time. The video was basically the band (I guess) skydiving singing and playing the keyboards and sax. I'm sure they were miming though.

Mmmm, skydiving while listening to "Bakerman". Could there be a more pleasant, pacifying thought?
Enjoyed 'my' songs Stan. Hadn't heard the last two so that was good. Particularly liked the lovely ambient closure, a ploy I had in my draft (also had some Cornershop so slight tweaking may be in order). Of the new-to-me tracks the Ty one is proving the most irresistible, and not just for the nod to Ronnie Whelan. Overall, a joy, and certainly no need to be self-deprecating. No decline in stanndards here.
Lads, I'm throwing in a song specially for Stann and Kingdom Hoop. It's not easy listening by any means.
Does anyone else want the song? It's not going to be for everyone's liking I know!
Specially Jebus and his Tom Waits!
While flattered at the thought there's really no need to approach a song with that attitude Mr Brewer. If you like it, just lash it in with righteous conviction. That's the beauty of the whole idea I think. As it happens I don't think you need have many such worries. Definitely not Jebus anyway, the psy-trance-loving vegan freak.
I must say you have me intrigued now though. What is this song - a 10 minute didgeridoo solo?
Do your worst, SB. What's the worst that can happen? Someone doesn't like the song?
What harm.
On Stann's cd, I managed to give the first half a good listen, and really liked a few songs there that I hadn't heard before, like Close Lobster and Pet. I hadn't heard that Jack Rubies song in a long time, probably since 120 minutes. Enjoying it so far.

Okay, so I had seen Santagold on Jools Holland a while back, but it's definitely the song of the weekend round ours. So, is there an album, and is it worth getting?

There is an album of the same name, but it's still on my list of things to get so I don't know how good it is. Getting good reviews though I think, and she's all matey with the likes of Spank Rock, Switch, Diplo and MIA so that should say enough...
Here's her myspace anyway, can't open it at work but IIRC there's a few decent tunes there.
Glad you liked the Jack Rubies BTW, surprised you can remember it TBH. That and the Two Culture Clash tunes I thought nobody would have heard.
Ta for all the kind words all, looking forward to this weeks now...

Lads, I'll try and get my CD's out at the weekend for early next week. I just have a lot on this week. Hope that's ok.
I gave Declining Stanndards a listen y-day. gotta say It's not really to my taste but could be a grower so I'm not giving up on it yet*. That says more for my lack of musical knowledge/taste than any fault in stanns choices
*Bearing in mind I thought OK Computer was cr@p after the first play thorough
You're right though, OK Computer is crap.
Nah I thought there might be a clash of tastes with yourself alright, ah well, that's what this kind of thing is all about.
I thought SligoBrewer was all set up to go this week? Slipping back in for tcm?
Yeah, there you go. And he acknowledged it too, so no excuses if they're not already winging their way around the country!

Tenner says Brewer's will be the worst CD of the bunch?
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
