McDowells is great. very quiet but absolutely no scumbags
Black Lion's bar is all male if you want a "quiet pint" Lounge os Ok but they focus more on food now.
Stay away from Horse and Jockey, The Village Inn and Kelly's (the Black Horse Inn) and you'll be fine. If you PM the street address I'll give you all the info you need...
