What boat would that be
All our players received their money eventually! nothing to pride ourselves on but we didn't just rip up contracts, that's not allowed.
I'd imagine that any player you release who doesn't find a club and who is still under contract you will have to keep paying. You can't just rip them up without their consent.
Which is why you had players at Shels hanging on after the League win under contracts and milking every last cent out of us, some who waited months before accepting contracts elsewhere. Despite the fact they were not getting paid each week they were still entitled to that money under their contact and eventually it was all paid back to them.
The players would be doing your club a massive favour if they allowed Galway to rip up the contracts! It's the players choice not just the clubs and I doubt any player would agree to that..
Could it be that all these players are out of contract come July 1st ?

Or was there a clause in their contracts saying they could be terminated on July 1st?
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
Well then you won't be able to rip up the contracts without their consent. They will either have to accept a transfer elsewhere or you pay them off somehow. You can't simply release them if it's not in their contract.
To get into the Shels boat you would have to have a large unpaid tax bill there too
It does show up this 65% rull to be a bit silly. If nobody wants to offer these players a contract then you can't do anything other than continue to pay them which will result in fines and points deductions for going over the 65%.
Putting your entire team on the list may have been a better way out of the mess. Or try to flog some of your better players for little or no transfer fee.
Telling 6 players under contract they are released won't solve your problem.

player may sign a mutual release form if they agree to go however if they dont the club has a contract it must honour... I think
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now
Rumour down here is that Gamble will be a Pat's player come July first for the price of 50k....if they want him
Anybody hear any rumours that Kudozovic and Killian Brennan are going to James Gannon's Stockport for a combined total of 100k ??![]()
40/60 I heard..........
I suspect that he was just indicating that players will not be held to the terms of their contracts should another club be willing to employ them - from what I've heard there's no question of Galway not honouring existing contracts but that they are looking to offload wages rather than sell players for a fee.
Foot.ie's entire existence is predicated on the average idiot's inability to ignore other idiots
At the start of the season you put in projected accounts of how you see your revenue stacking up and it is on that basis that you sign your players and agree your playing budget. If, as is the case for most clubs this year due to the "credit crunch" (god dont you hate these terms they come up with for us all being broke?) the sponsorship deals and supports from businesses are not as easy to come by and there is a bit more of a shortfall than anticipated, hence clubs are having to take drastic measures to come in under the wage cap.
Simple really.
Poor Galway.![]()
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
So what Galway are doing is putting 6 players on the Transfer List.
No releasing or ripping up of contracts...
If nobody is willing to take them or they are not willing to go, you've no option but to continue paying them and continue to come in above 65% each month.
Another point is that just because the FAI are forcing Galways hand on the 65% rule doesn't mean that the club are broke. I'm sure many clubs in the league can afford over 65% of turnover on players and still come out the other end of the season turning a profit or breaking even.

From the star:
Cork City have made a late bid to steal Derek O'Brien from under the noses of St. Pats. The Leesiders have been given permission to talk to O'Brien after an offer of cash-plus- players was accepted by the tribesmen.
It is believed that City would loan out some of their fringe players to the Premier Division's basement boys.
St Pat's meanwhile have been told that they can talk to the player after they made a straight cash bid, thought to be around €25,000
