Hi Guy's. Ive an Issue with a users Outlook that I cant seem to sort out by googling or looking up ms help so I turn to ye.
Basically I've just installed office 2007 for this guy and he's moving mail from his Inbox to his personal folders. It's taking ages to copy, he insists that the guy who was the Deskside engineer before me was able to tick something in outlook 2003 that enabled the movement of mail from inbox to personal folders instantly
I've looked through all the settings I can think of and nothing seems to work
any Ideas ?

BGR try setting up a new pst file and then moving an email in to that to see if you have the same issue, if not, it might be an issue with the current pst file being an older format that 2007 doesn't like - this is just a guess. but worth a shot

BGR - the only thing I can think of that would make copying go quicker is if the mailbox is set-up in Cache Mode. But 2007 should have picked that setting up from 2003, if not, you can check it by going to Tools - Account Settings, highlight the acount and click on Change - there should be an option for Cache Mode here - but as I said, that's the onnly thing I can think of it being
Yeah that was the first thing I thought of. It is set up for cached exchange mode so it's possible that 2007 is just slower. The user is adamant that it was a Check box so that would fit in with Cached exchange mode
thanks for confirming what I suspected all along
What ever you do, download and run the 2003->2007 convertor first.
Edit: Sorry, read that again and you didn't mention 2003. Where is the PST file? locally or a file server? Set it up locally first to trouble shoot.
Is it an exchange account or pop3?

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Check back with the user and cached exchange mode had become un-ticked. re ticked and violla all good![]()
