    New TV

I said id stick this in here as it will be for gaming as well as watching tv, but i want a flat screen for the bedroom that im going to stick the xbox on as i never play it in the games room due to the PS3 being in there. What do ye reckon is the min inches i should get that is useable from a distance of i reckon 7-8 feet .

I was looking at 26" but im worried it might not be big enough am i better of just getting the 32".

The one in the games room is 42" flat screen and the 37" old style big boxy one is down stairs for tv veiwing.

    26"

the first tv isnt soooooo bad but you should be lookin out for this..
Display Format 1080p... that format is the business and makes next gen gamin look shexy veryvery shexy!! and a resolution of like 1600:1200 or 1900:1200 for best quality!

Cost is a factor as well as i dont want to spend too much on a bedroom TV .will a 1080p one cost a fortune and is it really all that much better . I see the ones i linked are 720 thats rubbish so is it ?

I was going to say they are things to do in there thats more fun but thats just a lie

Its not that its rubbish, its basically about 2-3 steps above a regular TV,where a "full HD" as they call it has a standard of 1080 lines which will be the standard for the next few years and in that way future proof. If your planning on playing consoles on it(Namely 360/PS3) and want to get the best out of them,I'd recommend the "Full HD".

There was a previous thread on here about how its important to match the screen size to your viewing distance when buying HD, otherwise you risk buying too big, seeing a blurred picture and giving yourself a headache (financially and physically).

Can't remember the ideal multiple of viewing distance to screen size (4:1?) but a quick web search will find it.

I sit about 5-6 feet max away from my 42" and its perfect quality from the PS3 , DVD's are nt great, it has to be a HD imput.

I wont be buying one thats too big anyway it will be smaller and ill be futher away ( 26"/32" & 7-8 feet away) .

On the 1080p thing how many games are actually made for a 1080p output ?i done some looking on boards and they seem to think there are only a hand full, & that getting 1080p at the moment is silly due to expense and lack of need for 1080p looking at the price of them too they seem to be closer to 2 grand than the 400-600 i want to spend. Is it over kill ?

Im very impressed with the likes of Condemned 2 and COD4 on my TV at the moment which is 1080i , im sure they will be aiming for better in the future but this isnt going to be my main tv any way so i think 720 is fine. it was just the size that was concerning me , wanted to know if someone plays on a 26" is it workable or wll it just be a waste of money ?

Think i have decided on this one 561 euro delivery is 14.50 so it seems to be good value 32" samsung for 575. My other is a Samsung which is very good.

So the other question has any one mounted a tv on a wall ? i dont want to come home and find it smashed on the floor !!

This looks perfect as it can be pulled out and twisted up and down as well as left and right
