ex Rangers player not booed in Dublin

ex Rangers player Stale Stensaas was not booed in Dalymount last night. he was not called a "hun *******" or a "dirty proddie" or even subjected to any sectarian abuse form narrow minded bigots.

Shock horror but we had 8,500 Irish football fans in Dalymount supporting our representitives in the champions league.

Is it too much to ask that the muppets could stick to their sofas and barstools again on August 19th.

Not really, he got some abuse (as the player that most of the crowd knew): 'Celtic reject', that sort of thing. The whole team got booed and whistled at for a good bit of the game.

Do you mean me?

If so, I don't think it was a bad thing at all. The more intimidating the ground is for the opposition players the better! (and bears no relation to booing Rangers players)

Why do I bother?

No problem with anything last night (apart from anti rovers stuff but that's another argument)- making ground intimidating booing players chanting Celtic reject, small team in Norway etc - this is rivalry etc etc.

We did not have any racist or sectarian abuse last night and thus UEFA won't have anything to investigate.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Irish fans booing Rangers players (or ex Rangers players (or players that the have never played for rangers but the Stadium PA announces as a Rangers play) )

I just think its makes us look like ****s...

Oh and there is nothing wrong with booing the whole team, but picking on the rangers player, (ex rangers etc..) is stupid...

Booing

Booing Rangers players/Ex players is ok by me as it's your duty to noise them right up.

If Northern Ireland played Sweden and Larsson was playing would the majority of their fans not boo Larsson?

There was no booing last night.

I think the Celtic reject chant was a bit tongue in cheek anyways.

Doesn't make it right. If we (the Republic) were playing Sweden and I booed him, I guarentee you some Celtic muppet would have a go...

I was in the Jodi stand and never heard anything. Definitely good attempt to create hostile atmosphere but ntohing sectarian or racist. My mate recognized Stensaas and the programme confirmed it.

The only thing I thoguht was inappropriate at both Bohs games was the anti rovers stuff - "Rovers scum" etc. Ditto for the anto Bohs stuff at both Rovers games. I would have hoped that all national league clubs would put their differences aside when our european reps play.

I wonder if this is the first time a tabloid has totally made up a story.

It's a bit petty alright but not overly surprising. I'd say Rovers fans would be almost disappointed if they didn't get that.

Exactly and it was a good laugh to hear the Bohs fans slagging off the Rovers when they were hanging their flags on the terrace.
Rovers deserve to be slagged.
The Celtic reject stuff is nothing to do with Celtic per se but more about trying to wind a player up about being released by a club.
Liam George got it from us at the Pat's game in the cup.
It's the job of the supporters to wind up the opposition.
Racisim and sectarianism is a totally different thing.
As is references to a players wife, family or sexuality.
It's perfectly legitimate to slag a player off about his football ability whether or not it's true.
Remember the "You'll never play for Ireland" chant directed to Glen Crowe in Cork? It was a bit of harmless fun and the majority of people singing it were happy to see Crowe picked for Ireland.
