Linked with Crystal Palace. Elsewhere in related news, Hughes has scotched rumours linking Long with Stoke but is trying to tie down Ireland to a long-term contract.
Wilson conceded a penalty after a dive from Sterling (those foreigners again). Lapse in concentration from Wilson led to Sterling going through but Wilson recovered well. Still a bit worrying how much things like that have been creeping into his game in the last few months.
It was a dive he just ran into Wilsons his leg, I think the ref is a scouser.
But then Wilson has go to anticipate such cheats.

Yeah, he was very lacksadaisical but it was in no way a penalty.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Wilson having a shocker, was responsible for their first goal with a mistake, and gave the ball to Sterling before the penalty. Was a definite dive though. Cheating little scumbag's going on my list of enemies!
Just caused their last one too. Nightmare.

Walters gets on back 3-4 5 mins left
The announcers were riding Wilson like he was Secretariat. Looked lost out there.
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
I thought Butland did quite well to be honest. If he didn't scream that the ball for the second goal was his, fair enough, he'll chalk it up to experience, but I have no idea what Shawcross was thinking.
If you could, you would move to a place called Butland, I have no doubt.![]()

I reckon he thought he could get there, it comes on very quickly, and he does get a touch to it, although not enough to get it clear. To be honest, I doubt he was expecting Wilson to hoole things so badly, although if you want to be a top defender, you always have to anticipate things like that.
I don't know, looks a little bland, and I've lived in the midlands of England before, and didn't care for it much:

"Put his body on the line for his team throughout, with a stunning block to deny Zabaleta the best of the bunch. Dealt with Negredo and Dzeko with relative ease." 3.5

Assuming that Coleman and Ward are fit and play RB and LB respectively and Dunne returns to QPR, I wonder if Wilson will get the nod at CB again alongside O'Shea? Or will Wilson and/or O'Shea shift to the full-back positions opening up an opportunity for Clark, Delaney, Pearce or Keogh?
There are so many players there that can play CB or FB. It will be interesting to get a better idea of who plays CB and who plays FB as we approach Autumn.
O'Neill could even move Coleman into RM opposite McGeady, McClean, Pilko or Brady. Coleman's as much of a goal threat than any of them. It would be remiss to forget how good he was in that position for Everton.
I was terrified opening this thread because I thought it would be a serious injury. Glad it's just a good report card!
edit: on Wilson at CB, I think he'll get another shot provided Ward is fit to play

I don't think we'll be seeing O'Shea at FB in a green shirt again, unless there's some sort of national emergency...
