    wexford youths

This was a match we should have won. Alan Lynch scored with a cracker of a goal in the first half but Youths against the run of play equalised in the first half . A blunder from chucky put youths thro on goal and the youths player scored a screamer past shay giving shay no chance.

shay was easily the man of the match for us he was class personified. The best of chance for us came near the end when one of our lads was thro on goal and the wexford youths lad pulled him back when he had an open goal. he deservedly got a red card.

We had so many chances in the second half once they were down to ten men but our lack of coolness in goal let us down badly. great to see ronnies best pal adrian cregg given a chance in second half as sub. thought he played good.

lovely set up at ferrycarrig the most unusual entrance in that the ground is right on top of the wexford dublin road but there is no direct entrance to it! you have to go on a side road and go a massive loop for a mile and a half before you come into the ground . Its also poorly sign posted as well.

The clubhouse is exceptional you can have a bottle of wine in the comfort of a bar seat right behind the goals. Huge place. They are in the process of building a gymn behind the goals and are going to build a new stand on the other side of the ground where we were sitting. The temporary stand that I was in last night was the coldest ground I have ever being in than bray. The wind was so cold it actually destroyed the game. The top of the stand is bit like a beer canopy. They also have three all weather pitches and a training faclity.

Definitely the best setup of all the eircom league clubs including the top flight! tallented can vouch for that too!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Very fair appreciation of the game Martinho. The general opinion of the sendig off is that it was a 'tackle' that had to be made. If we let your lad go it was going to be a goal. Some are divided on the argument that we would eventually have levelled or better if we had 11 V 11.

I'm glad you enjoyed the set up. We have to keep the entrance up a back country road or else everyone would want to come along

Your next visit should be in more favourable weather, so you'll enjoy it more

Martinho summed it all up perfectly. Great little set up & a credit to Wexford. Long may they continue. It is however the coldest place for a game, the wind literally shook me to my very core. Thankfully they have a delightful cosy beautifully furnished clubhouse where you can quaff wine to your hearts content & watch the game out the window or on the widescreen plasma tv there which is receiving a live feed from the gantry outside. I had a great time there.

Glad you enjoyed it Salmon. It's a cold spot at times alright. At least we have a roof on our stand now, unlike last year.

As Mick says 'you wouldn't put a milk bottle out on a night like that'
