WITH Giovanni Trapattoni's arrival, thoughts are quickly turning towards September's World Cup qualifiers but, for a couple of eircom League players, their dreams of South Africa 2010 begin a little earlier.
First into the fray is Sligo Rovers' striker Romauld Boco, captain of Benin, who start their campaign in Angola on May 30. It will be the start of a busy four weeks for Rommy, with further World Cup qualifiers at home to Uganda (June 6), away to Niger (June 13) and home to Niger (June 20). Boco will be a big loss to Sligo, who face difficult games away to Drogheda (May 27) and Bohemians (May 30), as well as a home game against UCD on June 20.

2006 World Cup qualifiers, the Palancas Negras of Angola, left it late to beat the Benin Republic.
The game, played at the National Stadium in Luanda, saw the visitors impress in the first half. However the Angolans turned on the heat in the second half and Al Ahli striker Flavio gave the host the lead on the 60th minute, heading the ball into the Beninoise net off a corner kick from his club team mate Gilberto.
Striker Job, who came into the game for Maurito in the second half, got the second goal for the Palancas Negras in the 79th minute. Job received a pass from Mantorras, dribbled past the Beninoise last line of defence and put the ball beyond the goalkeeper.
Mendonca put the game beyond doubt with the third goal with only five minutes of the encounter left, as he hit a ball out from 30 meters out that found the visiting goalkeeper wanting
