The club are actually chartering a flight for the players to Sligo
Regional Airport. There is no GUST bus, so some of the supporters
are travelling with the team.
I have heard that the runway at Sligo Airport faces towards the sea, and
that any plane that over-runs it will land into Sligo Bay. Surely not true ?
Yes, it's true. It's only happened once as far as I can remember. Aslan were on board.

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
The idea of placing my life in the hands of "Sligo Air Traffic Control"
does not appeal to me.
The Sligo Higher Institute of Technology Diploma in Airport Construction must
have only been offered at Foundation Level.
One would have thought that "Don't build a runway facing the sea" would be
fairly obvious.
Actually i think you are wrong Air traffic is controlled mainly from Shannon i think, then Dublin with some in Cork. I am prety sure Airports such as Knock and smaller ones like Galway and Sligo don't have air traffic controllers on the ground. Anyway you are obviously not heading when you are still on this.
What time will the plane be in?, i might pop out to make sure you land safely.
No sorry i lied i just want to see will ye end up in the sea.

Afaik it was actually the pilots fault. The plane was a Celtic Airlines flight. They took over the dorment run,( aer lingus had pulled out ). The Pilot was laid off i believe, and havnt heard of the company since. Interestingly, the lane is now down there, minus wings and used for fire training. You can see it when you land there!
We have just arrived at Sligo International Airport.
See you in the Showgrounds !
