Just going through the fixtures to pick out when London and Warwickshire are playing in the various Senior Championships this year.
Noticed a couple of "new" teams in there this season - there's a "South Down" and a "Fingal"
Anyone know anything about these lot - and why they're in the Championships this year?
Kom Igen, FCK...
Have they changed it, or can only 12 teams play in the All Ireland championship?
Don't the rest just play in lesser competitions?

They've been in it a few years i think. I remember them drawing with Antrim a few years ago but losing the replay heavily.
South Down played in the league this year and i think were promoted from Div 4. I think they were set up to give players not from the Ards peninsula hurling stronghold inter county experience.
Same with Fingal i think. Trying to encourage hurling in the area.
I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?
You're spot on there Paudie. Hurling's big clubs in Dublin are located in either the Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown or South Dublin jurisdictions. To the best of my knowledge the Fingal team will solely be represented by players from clubs from the Fingal council area.
South Down likewise is an area where hurling is relatively weak compared to other parts of the county, with most of the top talent playing with the clubs in the Ards peninsula.
It will be interesting to see how the experiment works out. While Fingal isn't a stronghold it would still have ample to talent to be expected to put out a starting 15 capable of challenging some of the better sides in the Nicky Rackard. I'm interested to see where they use for their home games. The logical choice, I would guess, is Fingallians ground as the Dublin County Board has used it for Blue Stars games in the past but they might opt for somewhere else.

Minor cups and promotion to the level above(be it from the Nicky Rackard Cup to the Christy Ring or Christy Ring to Liam McCarthy) .
You have to win a relegation/promotion playoff aswell as winning one of the cups to get promoted though .
Theoretically 13 could have won it(I think) as Westmeath would presumely progress to the Liam McCarthy should they have won Leinster despite meant to being a Christy Ring team .
Antrim(whether they win the Ulster final or not), Tipp, Clare, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford, Offaly, Dublin, Laois and Galway are the 12 teams that contest the Liam McCarthy .

Cork are savaging Tipp in the first half.
What's with the people behind the Cork goal? Was the game oversold?
