Higgins has had a number of NI U21 caps. I'm surprised he is eligible.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

David Cassidy (ex rovers, now Dundalk) is an obvious miss from this squad, he has been in superb form for us, and has 3 goals in 5 of the 8 games he`s played, not bad for a small midfielder

Class act, surprised he didnt make the cut
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

If he didn't make the cut at Premier level, why you surprised?

I thought the defence left him exposed for that goal. The way it came in, he had to come for it but had there been a defender properly placed, he wouldn't have had to.

The Rovers fans I was talking to on the walk home from Tolka on Sunday were also bemused as to why he was let go. Fingers crossed that he doesn't get injured!

I've been impressed with Gary Deegan at Galway this season. Thought he might have made it in.

I think Cassidy leaving Rovers was a pure commercial decision by Scully to pay for Bakers wages. Thats what I read earlier in the year.

Your right that his set piece were terrible but he did have a fair few cracking games and also some shockers

Really . No first division player deserves a call up. Anyway, with Gill on board now there's no chance that Flood will get a call-up.

Heard today that Bray's Derek Pender and UCD's Ian Bermingham have been called up as replacements for the NI match. Story here.

Can't find it anywhere yet, just know Stephen Rice, Mark Quigley, Killian Brennan and Barry Murphy all played.

A stoppage-time goal by Stephen Rice gave the Republic of Ireland victory in Tuesday's Challenge Trophy match at Mourneview Park.

Rice netted a diving header following sa cross from Killian Brennan to leave the Pat Fenlon's Republic top of their group with six points.

In the first half Peter Thompson hit an upright with a shot for NI.
His Linfield team-mate Thomas Stewart had a shot cleared off the line after rounding Republic keeper Barry Murphy. "

According to RTE the match was delayed for half an hour because both teams wanted to wear white socks. FFS what a joke, glad I didn`t go up to it
