I do find this hard to believe.
I did read somewhere that the mns programme was negotiated as part of a deal to get rights to the internationals.
RTE pay 5000 (though I saw 300 Euro quoted somewhere) for a live game to the FAI. Why would the FAI pay rte for the rights of the EL. TV3 (albeit a shyte programme) already had a programme of their own.
Also isnt this one of the reasons why the prize money rose so much?
No one mentioned paying for the rights - the rights came in the package with the International matches.
They paid for the Prime Time slot. RTE wanted to show it at the same time as the TV3 show.
