Talking Lady Luck smiles on the Rams

From all the reports on radio, it looks like lady luck was on our side. Do we have an eye witness account out there?

It was an excellent result, Dave Hill 'man of the match' according to 2FM news.

Well done the Rams, looking forward to the replay nxt Wedesday

    Cobh keep Derry at bay

    DERRY CITY 0

    COBH RAMBLERS 0

CARLSBERG FAI Cup holders Derry City face the 600-mile round trip to St Colman's Park next Wednesday after their failure to overcome First Division side Cobh Ramblers in their second-round clash at the Brandywell last night.

Although they dominated the game from start to finish, Derry's failure to put away just one of their numerous close-range scoring opportunities gave their new team boss Dermot Keely plenty to think about.

The Ramblers' goalmouth had a charmed life as City spurned chance after chance. But Cobh, led by 'Man of the Match' player-manager Dave Hill, who played in front of the Ramblers back four, offered a well-marshalled and stubborn resistance against the waves of Derry attacks.

Derry City - Gough, McCallion, Hargan, Hutton, McLaughlin, Doherty, McGlynn,

    Beckett, Coyle, Martyn and Friars.

Cobh Ramblers - Harrington, Wolfe, White, Hill, Murphy, Andrews, Tynan, Yelverton, O'Reilly, Bruton (Buckley, 75), Moore.

    Ref - Paul Tuite, Dublin.

    just back from the game
i thought we played well on the night in the 1st half i thought we were the better team we created lots of chances and passed the ball well. in the 2nd half it was all Derry how they didnt score i dont know our defence handled the pressure well Yelverton and Hill won everything. In the last 5 minutes we had 2 big chances to win the game O'Rielly had to one on ones with the keeper a definite goal if that was Bruts or McGregor.
Good luck in the replay ramblers

Might call in on that match. Hope Queenstown stuff them.

Not least it would increase teh chances of handier draw for us in the next round.
