Packer sees City as a stepping stone

It looks like our new signing sees us as being merely a stepping stone to playing in the mighty English first division/Scottish league/Dutch league.
    see here

Lets show him tomorrow that we are a big club that is worth playing for in the long term.

I guess its a good thing- if he's that desperate to land a contract at a "bigger" club, then he's really gonna be trying hard. I'd like to see us signing players who want to be city players, but with our injury problems in midfield, he's probably handy to have around.

    Foot.ie!

I would not read much into those comments. His agent might be trying to stir City up to offer him a longer deal also.Dont forget he is a City player right now and we decide whether he plays or not.If the comments are true i have to admit its not often you hear a player talk like that just after moving to a new club.I could not give a to** if he was Pele ,if he is not 100% commited to City i dont want to see him play.So rather than him or his agent talking anymore rubbish let him prove himself first and then maybe, just maybe Pat Dolan might decide to LET him play for Cork City FC.....

i think it could be agent talk to get a better contract. i posted a few days ago he's already been passed on this year by Millwall, Dunfermiline, Hearts and apparently Falkirk too.

i don't think there really are english clubs knocking down his door, unless his agent is a brilliant spoofer.

the dutch league, ex-feyenoord (current Blackburn) player Brett Emerton was at the same aussie club as Packer. but i'm not sure he's at that level.

i think the player would be ill advised to come out with comments like that himself, especially as he hasn't played for us yet and only has a short term contract.

Guys, let's give the guy a chance.

If he does turn out to be a spoofer then he won't last long.

But let's not judge him before he even kicks a ball.

Is he in the panel for tomorrow night.......anyone know?

If Dolan Heard what packer said he wont let him within a 5 mile radius of the cross. He has been saying all along that if your not 100% city, he doesn't want you.I think he'll send him packing if he hears that.(forgive the pun)

I hope all those scouts enjoyed the rain and the few minutes of Fudge's appearance last night

BTW, poor old fudge didn't seem to talk to any of the other subs warming up with him throughout the game..any

He did put in one decent cross last night. He might have been worth more than a few minutes. And he coudln't have been as bad as Hedderman.

Better he sees city as a stepping stone than a retirement home.

True, but an older player may have more loyalty.
Anyways, lets hope he's the temporary solution to all our midfield problems...please let him be...please
