An artist by the name of Guillermo Vargas set up an exhibit regarding starving dogs, where he took a street dog and tied it up in a gallery without feeding it until he died to show the 'plight of street dogs'Anyway here's he's original mission statement,
Hello everyone. My name is Guillermo Habacuc Vargas. I am 50 years old and an artist. Recently, I have been critisized for my work titled "Eres lo que lees", which features a dog named Nativity. The purpose of the work was not to cause any type of infliction on the poor, innocent creature, but rather to illustrate a point. In my home city of San Jose, Costa Rica, tens of thousands of stray dogs starve and die of illness each year in the streets and no one pays them a second thought.
Now, if you publicly display one of these starving creatures, such as the case with Nativity, it creates a backlash that brings out a big of hypocrisy in all of us. Nativity was a very sick creature and would have died in the streets anyway.
But he has since said that he doesn't know if the dog would have died on the streets, then refused to confirm/deny whether the dog actually died (he did), and then said he wanted to do the exhibit to remember a Costa Rican burglar who was mauled to death by gaurd dogs, but then went back to the original wanting to show the plight of street dogs story. Here's a few photos from the exhibit,

Sadly the exhibit took place in Nicaragua where there are no animal cruelty laws, and so killing a dog for art isn't against the law. Nothing will be done officially about this, but hopefully someone takes it upon themself to murder this piece of human filth. Another 'artist' who can't make a name for themselves in the art world and so resorts to promoting themselves through controversy. No words can describe the amount of disgust I have for this guy and those people who visited the exhibition.
