Times like this put football into perspective.. RIP enda
absolutely deveasted to hear the sad news when ronnieb rang me.. I knew enda since he was fourteen or fifteen when we used to go to away matches on the supporters club bus so I have seen him grow to the fine young man that he was..
I didnt realise how serious the situation was until I spoke to Rock of Gibraltar a few weeks ago.. Sonic will be much missed amongst us esp in section o.. he was honest forthright controversial but he had a very endeering laugh that made him respected and liked amongst others.. Sonic was one of the most passionate town fans that I have ever come across and I will miss him dearly..
Sonic you are a legend may you rest in peace.![]()
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Times like this put football into perspective.. RIP enda
If god wanted us to play football in the clouds he would have put grass up there!
met him in over in america last summer. it was our love for loi football that got us talking. we became friends over there and continued our friendship when we returned home. we where both delighted longford and limerick got each other in the cup last year and we had some banter up in flancare at the match. was hoping to see him many times this year at matches, sadly this will not be anymore.
He was one of the soundest guys you could meet and there wasn't a bad bone in his body. Longford Town where number one to him and he was a true football fan. When i got the news this morning i was in shock (had hoped he would pull through) as where all the people that had become friends with him in the states. Enda will be sadly missed, R.I.P![]()
Tragic news, condolences to all.
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.
Just want to sort of repeat the call to perhaps move this to EL main forum, Sonic/Enda was a regular poster in all forums. Anyway, either way it's good to read everyone's memories of him. A lot of ye knew him better than I did but I hope everybody that has ever come in contact with him will feel free to post on here about their knowledge and memories of him. It really is sh**ty.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Been reading this all day but wasnt sure what to say.
Always knew Enda from going to Town matches for as long as I can remember, probably about 6 or 7 years back.Since then,I've regulary travelled to away matches with him, either in my uncles car or on the supporters club bus.
He loved life and had a constant smile on his face unless,as it says on his bebo page when Longford town LOSE a game!
All thought it is a cliche to say that someone is a passionate fan,I think it would hit the nail on the head to say that Enda was without doubht one of the most passionate fans I have ever met,at times I was even taken a back as to how passionate he is.At times, his point of view was certainly not everyones but his passion for the club was there for all to see.
Even after all those years of knowing him and sharing away trips with him,it was only in the last year or so that I realised that he was Sonic when I heard him say the exact same thing that I had read from Sonic on foot.ie.Ironic in that we could have had all those arguements on the way home from the match instead of waiting to go online when we got back to be at each others necks.
He was a true stand goer up untill last season when the numbers in section o were on the up, me and Cabs FINALLY convinced him to give section o a try, where he has been a part of ever since as can be scene as he proudly displays the Section O skin on his bebo page.
He was proud of Longford town and everyone who met him knew it as it was more then likely he'd bring it up within minutes of meeting them.He must have got the most use out of anyone I know of the jerseys he bought as I can prob count the amount of times on my fingers when I've met him and he wasnt wearing the home or away jersey.
Last year when working in a fish market over in America he said that he used to get very funny looks when he'd be jumping up and down on a Saturday afternoon checking live scores on the net.I remember going home from games on a Saturday to go on bebo to give him the report and he'd already have mailed me or Cabs asking about the match in detail, what was mooneys goal like? Why was ya man sent off?Much of a crowd in section o?
Was only on Friday night in tolka when me and Cabs were talking about when he was on crutches last year and as soon as we scored he bolted down the stairs to the pitch, crutches waving in the air as if it was a miracle and he was cured!
Enda of all people didnt deserve to get sick and although once he was sick it never looked good as the days went by it looked like there may be hope but it wasn't to be.
Being involved in a club like Longford Town, you get to make some lifelong friends and Enda was one that I thought would be around for a lot longer. If he could I know that he would want to make every Longford town game possible,I hope that theres livescores on the net wherever you are and I hope that your looking down on Section O on Saturday so we can give ya a proper send off!
I'll miss ya Enda,sleep tight!
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
Great tribute Bosco, honestly you can tell he meant a lot to a lot of people in Longford.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
It is always sad to hear about the departure from this life of a foot.ie member.
Sympathies to his family and the supporters of Longford Town who post here.
Rest in Peace Sonic.
I don't think I knew him in the real world, but putting names with faces was never my strength, but I'm sure I would've known him to see. I always enjoyed the running arguments on here as Sonic, and it added a dimension to the forum(s). It's always so sad when one so young is taken for no good reason.
RIP Sonic/ Enda
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
I didn't know Enda at all -- except as Sonic -- but he was in the same class as my younger brother in school. A lovely guy by all accounts.
Rest in peace

Never knew the lad, but knew the user name from on here. Went and looked up his public profile to remind me about him.
Hard to believe he was 21. Hard to believe another active, vocal and passionate foot.ie member has passed on.
RIP Sonic.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!
