You'll all be glad to hear that Triggs, despite his years (16?), is still going strong.

He said that it has been easier since the last 2 victories for his club but there were times when he would come home, as soon as he would come in the door, the wife would just present him with the dog on a leash ready for a hour long (wind down) walk.
    Sensible woman.
    Paraphrasing -
He said sorry would be too strong a word for Stan. But he would have sympathy. He said that apart from one or two players the team is weak or not so strong.

Roy adds his name to the long list of Trap admirers and looks forward.

I understand the concern for such a central character from the Saipan fall out.
    I did put a ?
I thought Roy said 6 but said he was getting on in years now, as in not up to the long walks. So I take it Roy said 16, which is about 75 human years.

    I picked it up wrong.
Trigger the most famous dog since Lassie has passed away sometime after 2002.
The exhausting duty of keeping pace with Master on the long walks probably took its toll.
Now Roy has Triggs, a 6 year old.

on a general keano thread... here's more wise words from his greatest fan, Cathal Dervan - remember the 'journo' who called for fans at the Ireland v Iceland match to 'let keane know what you think' and then went on to ghost Mick's autobigraphy...

He (Dervan) basically got everything wrong in that article and all the information from his insiders turned out to be garbage.

He and Fanning are from the "unnamed source within the FAI told me" school which basically means I am making up a story and will credit it to an unnamed source

He was also wrong about Vegetables having a job by the time the Brazil game came along.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

dervan is the 'jimmy cricket' of irish sports journalism.
he has "L" and "R" on his shoes so he wont get even that wrong.
