The statistical likelihood of being injured by a flare at a football match is low compared to the statistical likelihood of you getting hurt on your way to the game or by some other factor (like being cut by rusty metal) at the game. Are Bray going to wait until someone gets their leg amputated to ban rusty seats?

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
Bray's stadium has a safety certificate - incl its seats.
Meanwhile - no stadium is allowed to have flares. I don't see what is so difficult to grasp about this.
I guess if teenagers started waving Bray's rusty seats around in a crowded place 'for the buzz' and to create a 'mad atmosphere', then those seats would probably also face a ban. But not before.
Have to agree with this Steve. How come every advert/promotion clip of the league has flares in it, as a focal point and they are outlawed here with the fines regime and all the noise about them? Rules are there to be broken, to a certain extent. I know the argument against them, yeah yeah yeah, all well and good but i agree with Red Army on this one.
When AC Milan stop using them i'll agree with the ruling.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
i think we all know a convincing argument on the internet is not going to get anything changed and flares will always be banned everyone has grasped that, if you can make your way back to the 1st post my point was that flares and the likes are used al over the world but seem to be enforced more heavily here in a smaller league for the profit of the F.A.I. i know the F.A.I have to impose these rules but why are the bigger leagues allowed to get away with it, they are in the public eye a lot more than the LOI?
How often do you see flares in the PL? How often do you see them in Spain? Because they're banned, with good reason.
I accept that they look good, but from a safety and financial point of view, they're OB.

You don't see them in the EPL because you can't fart without some moaning day trippers alerting security.
You don't see them in Spain because Spain don't have ultras. I don't know why, but they don't. Perhaps something to do with the likelihood of being shot at by Franco's troops.

Sorry, but back to the thread. To me, I go to a footy match to watch The Beautiful Game and discuss various aspects of it (offside, great touch, hard luck, bleedin' plonker etc) with whoever is beside me. I don't give a **ck about flares, displays Ultras (wtf) banners, 'being served', unless it is in a pub.
Enjoy the game, celebrate a victory, be dismayed at a defeat, get a dvd at Xtravision for pyrotechnical displays
