"vaffanculo" = f**k off, in a way it's exactly the same as the English expression, it used to be very bad but now it's used a lot (in the south) so, while still rude is not as rude as say 20 years ago...
"fottiti cacca cazzo" = screw you d**k head (literally head of excrament)
"porco dio" = f**king god, it's an expression of exasperation, but in Italian it's a lot ruder than it translates to in english
"zoccola" = rude word which means a lady who is not that selective and goes for quantity ahead of quality
"vai al inferno" = go to hell, again the Italian is ruder than the English
"cacasentenze" = literally means defeacting sentences, it's a rude way of describing someone who is "holier than thou" fans sometimes say this to the ref
"cafone" = basically a rude way of saying idiot, moron
Then there are whole load of normal phrases that can have sinister means depending on the context and delivery. For instance "A testa giu'" means head down, like almost upside down, but when fans say it it means we are going to get you.
But I wouldn't advise using these in Italy, some are more rude than others and even this depends on where you are - I by that it can be even village to village (in the south) rather than region to region.
Figo had the **** kicked out of him too. He was frequently the (statistically) most fouled player in Spain. A lot of players like that start going down a bit easily - even poor old Duffer's the same. Frankly, it's probably easier than enduring the injuries incurred the other way. Anyway, yes Figo dived though not so terribly, I think.
Zidane was sent off a lot in his career (10 times, I think - comparable with Keane!), usually for lashing out in anger after being provoked. He had a hot head in spite of the radiative cooling panel... er, bald spot. The banned substances thing was creatine. It's not entirely banned - just over a certain level. Below that, it's used as an aid for muscle building. I don't think anything substantial was ever pinned on anyone, though there were noises about nandralone, but that might be a bit to do with Juve employing various forms of the Wookie defence. I didn't follow the details of that case; you'd need a law degree and fluency in Italian.
You can't spell failure without FAI
This was quite popular among Serie A fans recently:

That one's popular throughout Italy, I think.![]()

The modern footballer
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
It's not every day I agree with Drunkphy, but Ronaldo's attitude when he loses possession is terrible. He seldom chases back and usually stands with his hands on his hips. Despite the number of goals he's scored this season, compared to last season he appears to be operating at about 60%. I think a transfer to Real Madrid is not far away.

I think a blind man would agree with Dunphy on that one. The same idiot turned out an article in The Star about a year ago with the headline - 'I WAS SO WRONG ABOUT RONALDO' though so I don't think it really matters what he says.
I don't think Ronaldo's general play is all that different to last year he's just not scoring with the same regularity. He'd want his head examined to go to Madrid at the minute. They don't have the players United have that'll do his dirty work for him, can you imagine himself and Sergio Ramos on one flank.
Is Ronaldo the best in the world?
No, Messi is.
without a doubt,Messi is going to be one of footballs greats
I'm a United fan and obviously most things in the game are down to opinions. However anybody that honestly has the opinion that Ronaldo is better, the same or nearly as good as Messi is quite simply - WRONG.
Definitely, Ronaldo is throwing all the wrong signals and shapes and though I advocated his world player of the year tag (which I think he deserved it at the time he got it), Messi for me is a world class player with a world class attitude.
Utd should take Madrid's money and strengthen the squad.
Also they should get their priorities right. Looking at the Porto game we see a player who won't carry his load being almost begged to remain at the club at any cost i.e. Ronnie and we see a honest to goodness player breaking his arse for the cause not being offered a contract (yet) i.e. Carlos. What's wrong with this?
