Messi for me. Better attitude than Ronaldo. The midweek performance by Messi against Atletico Madrid was George Best like.

would anybody have been upset if he was injured in the car crash?? not badly injured, i wouldn't wish that on anyone - but if he broke a leg and never recovered to play professionally.. would he be missed??

i don't think there is much to miss if he was gone really - contributes nothing positive to football

are you for real !! contributes nothing positive to football.. he practality won league title for utd last year.. yes he is a big showboater but would rather see players trying new things rather than just thumping ball up & down the pitch.. yes he does go down very easy during tackles but which modern player does not these days .. for all the hype & publicity he gets you very rarely see him getting into trouble off the pitch !! e.g ****ed coming out of night clubs / having disagrement in pubs / clubs .. and don't forget the english press slaughtered him for getting rooney sent of in the world cup and he came back a stronger player after it all . he is one of those players if your a utd fan you love him or hate him if your not ... i'd bet any of the top clubs / managers / fans woud love to have him in there team at the end of the day... if nobody would miss him why do we have a thread opened here about him...
will add i think messi or kaka or a class above ronaldo as footballers

What about his ball juggling in the warm up beforehand?

a class act indeed the only problem is that he is not playin in the best league in the world / universe the english preimer league as we are led to believe by sky sports / english press ronaldo stole all the headlines due to utd winning league / european cup on the back of his magnificent season & goals last year & don't forget he is only 23 also

I think Ronaldo is a fantastic player but a horrible cheating ****. He moans about not getting protection - what does he want? Is he saying he should not be subject to the rough and tumble that everybody else is?

I agree, compare him to Messi and his half the player and about 1/10 of the man! Messi was kicked off the park in the recent Barca v Real Madrid match but hardly complained at all. Compare this with Ronaldo who lashed out at Dawson when he wasn't even tackled but merely out-muscled in the Spurs v Man Utd match a few weeks ago. Ronaldo also lashed out at Stoke defender few weeks ago when he thought he was getting to physical. Certainly I'll be very interested in seeing how both him and Rooney cope with Cordoba, Samuel and/or Marco Matarazzi next month when Inter are in town.

Man Utd's influence over UEFA is slight compared to their infiltration of the upper echelons of the English game. I don't see so many continental refs turning a blind eye to Rooney telling them to "f**k off" or Ronaldo kicking out at opposition. And without Vidic (suspended), and perhaps Ferdinand (over-rated anyway), you would think the likes of Ibrahimovic and Cruz will have a good time of it against Evans and Brown.

Are you Benitez in disguise ?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

yes ronaldo does moan & groan and cheat like many other players.. he received 1 horrible challange from belletti late in chelsea game and he did not make a meal out of it so he can do it sometimes.. and how on earth did he not react verbally to howard webb giving him a yellow card for getting his shirt pulled & then tripped by carvalho in the penalty box and ronaldo is deemed to be fouling !! i am sure inter milan have a few players who can give the odd little kick out and tell refs to f**k off ... i would put money on matarazzi getting sent off in one of his games ... talking of cheats his has a previous record of cheating & being prone to seeing cards from referee's. what annoys me is that everybody seems to think it is only man utd who swear at ref / cheat , etc .. it is unfortunatly worldwide and clubs & managers seem to be turning a blind eye to it

The bold bit is were you are wrong. Yes lots of Inter players are unsporting, and yes ones like Matarazzi will kick out (treading on players toes at corners / free kicks is classic tactic they used to employ in European games in the mid 1990s), but they will never overtly tell a ref to "f**k off". I don't know if it's because (unlike Rooney) they are either (a) too subtle to do it, or (b) know that (unlike Rooney again) they would be carded for it in a domestic game... either way the Italians are very unlikely to do it. They are also unlikely to get up in the face of the ref and start shouting at them, they will go over and speak to the ref but they never aggressivly scream in their face (unlike Sunday). Basically in Serie A you would never get the comical scene you had at Old Trafford, where in a league which has supposedly introduced a "respect the officials" campaign a player ran over to a ref and started screaming and swearing in his face.

Incidently, in terms of people turning a blind eye to it, didn't Mascherano get a red card for this last season at Old Trafford ? From a neutral's point of view It does look a bit like there is one rule for the home team and one for the away team at Old Trafford.

so you know italian / spainish / swedish for f**k off !! what about their wonderful habits of brandishing imaginary cards after a foul and come on italian teams are not to shy to get in a referees face now and again ask any supporter and they will say the same about rules for home team and away team at anfield / stamford bridge / san siro / bernabau etc.. a lot of referees find it a bit easier to make decisions in favour of home teams due to pressure of players / fans and this is also from a neutral point of view ... if rooney are anybody else swears in referee's face they should be booked .. if ref does not do it then he is at fault ..

    Thumbs down

Ill probably get slated for this but here goes. Ronaldo is a symptom of everything that is wrong with football. He is an extremely talented magical footballer, but he is also a spoilt brat millionaire cheating piece of ****. it is because of so called superstar footballers such as him that cheating is now an integral part of the game and bad sporting attitudes are becoming the norm. If you go an watch a load of kids playing under 10s or that now, watch how many of them dive and play act. this would not have come into the heads of anyone in the past. If the wonderful Ronaldo is FIFA world player of the year (which he is) he becomes a role model for the sport around the world and his behaviour is not only seen as acceptable it is now recieving plaudits from the highest governing body in the game. if ever there was a message sent to disrespected refereees all over the world this was it.

is he the most skillful, and best goal scoring winger of his generation? Yes he is

Is he to be awarded the title which puts him a head and shoulders above Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres? Answer that one for yourself.

And no i am not Eamon Dunphy in disguise. One of the only things i agree with him on.

would agree with most of above .. but what annoys me is that ronaldo gets the blame for 90% of it.. plenty of other spoilt brat millionaire cheats out their in la liga / serie a / premier league doing the excat same as him.
    as for previous fifa players of the year a few non-cheating angels here alright .. kaka 2007 / ronaldinho 2004 / 2005 / zidane 2003 / 1998 /
    figo 2001 / rivaldo 1998...
head and shoulders above messi definatly no .. torres yes..

I'd only have Rivaldo down as a cheater there. Figo and Zidane were ridiculously hard working too

Ronaldinho: how could you not love that goofy smily face. Great attitude if a little (ok maybe alot) lazy.
Kaka: dont think his attitude is even in the same league
Figo and Zidane: couldnt call them cheats

I am not putting 90% of the blame on him but he opitomises the problem and he is one of the worst ever.

In my opinion Zidane was the greatest player I have ever really watched being a bit young for the maradonas etc

Annoys is the way he is referred to as "Ronaldo" alone as if he doesn't have a christian name , total disrespect to the finest forward of our generation
