He's better in pretty much every way, even after a lenghty lay off
I completely agree with you, I just dont think the one game face off that the tabloids have been building it up is the way to compare players.

It's not, but I do dislike Ronaldo immensely so I'll be crowing about it tomorrow

bit fond of going down the odd occasion ,, the annoying part is you then see him being brave to score a great headed goal against roma .. will add he is not the only one who could be called a sissy girl did you see his big sisters last night drogba the no 1 diver around / torres and even captain fantastic stevie gee to name a few .. unfortunatly it is part of the modern game and looks like their managers are not doing enough to stamp it out

    On tonights evidence...........NO!

Paul Scholes, Xavi and Messi looked like orld beaters tonight. Where as Ronaldo looked like a relegation candidate with Derby.

i thought it was a splendid performance by ronaldo tonight - just as good as he was against arsenal...
whats that he has contributed in those two huge games - 1 penalty scored and 1 penalty missed... a lot of arms flailing about complaining and bitching at refs and teammates - and very little skill, effort, enthusiasm or any sort of workrate at all...
more huge games to come for united - and it will be more of the same from their golden boy... without scholes and ferdinand tonight united's dreams would be over..i mean is anyone shocked at all that he contributed nothing positively again to united's cause tonight?? even his diehard supporters have to give it a rest now...
seriously, who was crazy enough to start a thread asking if this clown is the best player in the world???

Yup, fully agree with that, I also think he has a much better footballing brain than Ronaldo, takes a player on at the right time, makes the simple pass at the right time, he always chooses the high percentage play whilst with Ronaldo I think he is more likely to go for the spectacular just for the glory of it, its all about making himself look good, winning is secondary

Ronaldo is better in the air, and gets more goals. Everywhere else Messi is better.

Over first five yards no doubt. Henry said recently he never saw anyone quicker than Leo over the first 5. Over distance Ronaldo.

over 20 yards - ronaldo is quicker..
over 5 yards - id say messi is as quick as him

but the big thing is in a game situation when theres very little space to go past players [like last night with united having a 10 man defence] messi can burst past players in tight spaces because of his pace and unbelievalble ball control..kaka would be very similar in that regard too..
as for ronaldo, i just don't think hes capable of that.. hes needs space to run into behind the defenders to hurt a team.. i dont think he has a patch of the ball skills of messi/kaka in close quarters with loads of defenders around him..
because of this i'd liken ronaldo more to kevin kilbane than messi.. its just hes a few yards quicker than kilbane

I'd have Messi, Kaka and Torres ahead of the Ladyboy CRonaldo.

For me, Ronblado just hasnt done it on the biggest stage to be considered the best yet, he has been the form player this year, but wont be "The Best" until he produces consistently at the highest level.

And what if the defender is equally as quick? The advantage of being quick over a short distance is that you are taking on the defender while he isn't moving and catching him flat footed. I don't think Ronaldo would have as much success in La Liga as in the Premiership as in Spain the defences sit more deep, leaving less space in behind. It's why Torres went from only scoring aroun 15 a season in Spain to 20+ in England.

In the last week, I've noticed more than ever, that he doesn't do it in the big games.
