It's all the same teams, so much for spreading the coverage around.

I don't mind that. It'll let new fans get some familiarity with the teams and players that they're watching.

It was the same a few years ago when Shels were on the telly every week. I knew people who'd never gone to a game but could name Shels' starting 11.

I have no real sympathy for Cobh. You had a chance to have your title winning game live on RTE on the last day of last season and your board/committee refused. You can't have it every way. When you had your chance, you said NO.

    It is not.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

That's actually a very good point. I'm 10 times more interested in a game when I know the players. Even just by reputation.

which is another reason why the 60 seconds thing on MNS is a good idea. All help to raise the profile...

Look how Setanta O'Halpin launched the male population of rural Ireland out of their repressed homosexuality with the documentary of him being half dressed Down Under.

I haven't looked at what the alternative games were on the weekends Setanta have chosen but games appear to be the best. TV games should mainly include the combination biggest clubs, biggest crowds, highest placed teams in the table (bit early to be using that one yet).

A Broadcaster shows clubs they believe represent their audience. e.g. TnaG and Galway Utd.

    Its gets worse.

Just wait til next season when you're back in the First Division and you wouldn't even get a mention on MNS.

Does anybody know how much the clubs recieve per game.I would love to know how it compares to what clubs in league 2 get from Sky or the Blue Sq conference clubs get from Setanta.By the way the coverage of them Conference games is brilliant.Cameras in the dressing rooms and a reporter interviewing players on the bench when they have off come off .Real behind the scenes stuff anchored by Paul Parker.I would watch it over a Premier league game any day

Will these games clash with the GAA & Sunday Game on RTE?
Also I know in Galway if there is a big GAA match in Salthill traffic will be at a stand still for hours after it & you will get feck all to sit in ther car for an extra hour to get to Terryland.

    Better

I think sunday at 7pm is far better than monday nights if games are to be switched for tv. I always hated it last season when Bohs were playing on a monday. Worst night in the week for a match.

The home club gets €3,000 and the away club gets €2,000. The home club used to get the full €5,000 but that changed last year.

Pats were on TV as often as any other club last year and still ended up paying out more in fines than they got in TV revenue.

This season we're already €16,000+ down in fines so it's likely to be a similar story

It really is pittance. But its more the exposure that seems to be important at the moment. maybe when the profile of the league is built up a bit then the revenue should increase.

I agree. Exposure is the big one. Plus, I know Harps sold extra advertising hoardings on a once off basis when they were on TV last season, so there is extra revenue to be generated in that manner as well.
