ok well what i consider thenSorry for not being as old as you
Was enjoy the silence 1993 then or when was it ( not going to google )?!
Primal scream and stone roses i always just "thought of" as early 90s, maybe because of their sound i spose and the scene ( happy mondays etc ). Though when I think about it, new order weren't far removed from that either...
so does that clear it up for you. The above list would be what I consider to be the 80s ( sound etc )
By the way is Peter anything to Ed?

Very clever, Paul. No I'm not American, why?
I like cheesy 80s as much as yourself (well, maybe not that much), but I also have no trouble in calling the majority of it crap. Throw-away, cheesy, fun crap. In the right context it's great.
Oh and Trio is the group you're looking for. Another good song.
Also 'In the kitchen at parties'.
Bananarama went too much under the thumb of SAW and became awful, but I like their earlier stuff as well as some of their SAW stuff.

In my opinion a party isn't a party without Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus...if only for the opportunity to tuck the pork torpedo between your legs and dance around asking people if they'd fcuk you
You show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser - Vince Lombardi
My list would comprise mainly of Prince, Zapp, New Order........eh.....some Bowie...there wasn't really that much from the Eighties I like actually.
Although two of my favourite songs ever are Come On Eileen and King Of Rock 'N' Roll.![]()

Abri o portão de ouro, da maquina do tempo.
Mi mamá me hizo guapo, listo y antimadridista.
I know Paul was quite fond of motor racing, but as far as I know he never went as far as recording an ode to the sport...
(I think Gary is the name you were looking for)
Most of your list would send me running for some cotton wool to stuff my ears with tbh Paul. (exceptions are Talking Heads, though not their best work listed by you, and Crowded House).
No REM or Elvis Costello, Lloyd Cole, Billy Bragg, Aztec Camera, whats with that ? OK not party music maybe, but some of the best music of that decade made by those acts.

Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.
I started the post cos I was just wondering for myself what others would be, it wasn't a, this is my list and thats it, my knowledge of 80s music is limited to be honest cos I didnt grow up around then. So I expected there to be lots of missing songs and also errors....
The reference to the american part was about the way you said "ill let you do the maths" even with the s it still sounds american...
Trio, thats the band, awful catchy song, though id say after listening to it about 10 times in a row you would get bored. Its so simple its genius.
I think people are mistaking what I meant by party music. It is definitely not my favourite music, but its definitely party style if you ask me....
I also mentioned Tony, that I was putting in bands that went through the 80s and 90s - the 90s being their bigger music era- ( bar u2 really ) or that were rock such as REM or Elvis Costello above. But to be honest I don't know any Lloyd Cole or maybe I do but don't realise?!
