I think you have to have Soft Cell's Tainted Love in that list. A Depeche Mode song or two should also be included, perhaps Enjoy the Silence.

BTW that's an impressive list. Is it for your trip to Brussels?

Enjoy the Silence missed the eighties by a month or so.

Paul, your list is nicely arranged alphabetically. Unfortunately it jumps from song/artist format to artist/song, which makes it a pig to read. Plus I can't see any Kajagoogoo. Surely an oversight.

Anyway, for me this breaks down into two separate lists. There's the list of bands from the eighties that I like, and there's "80s music" as a kind of genre in itself.

For the former I would include the likes of the Stone Roses, Fall, Smiths, JAMC, Cocteau Twins, The Jam (partly), Public Enemy, Pixies, Minutemen etc.

The latter list would be more pop/cheese/novelty orientated.

How did I not think of them. You also have a lot of the two-tone stuff that was late 70s early 80s.

Wolfie, the Housemartins were completely eighties, and yes should be on the list.

That list has more cheese than the silos at a Goodfellahs manufacturing plant.

What's worse, I hereby call Shenanigans!

List looks suspiciously like a downloaded playlist from a Today FM 80's show or possibly some Australian equivalent going by the suspicious amount of Australasian muck some of which wasn't even released here much less a hit.

Tell the truth and shame the devil.
    Shenanigans!

Good call on depeche mode though enjoy the silence remake was better and thus not 80s

No its not my list for brussels, but maybe I should have it if the place is really that bad...

chesney chawke early 90s. I didnt include bands ( bar one u2 song and a few others ) that have been going constantly through, nor those that just appeared in late 80's and were actually big in the 90s.....

Its cheesy yes, but its the "80s genre" of music that people would most associate with like noby said.

If i was to do another list, it would be rock/indie list of the 90s which would have hte likes of g n r, motley crue, depeche mode, u2, metallica, megadeth, acdc, cheap tricks ( suppose more 70s ) pat benatar, possibly madness, housemartins, all that sorta stuff....

And the original wasn't eighties either.

Are we going by an arbitrary condition of what you consider to be eighties or, you know, actual dates?
