2 friendlies VS France at the end of the month
    in Waterford on the 25th
    in Cork on the 28th

    Shane Redmond - Nottingham Forest
    Paul Skinner - Celtic
    Brendan Moloney - Nottingham Forest
    Cian Hughton - Tottenham Hotspur
    Michael Spillane - Norwich City
    Laurence Gaughan - Celtic
    Shane Lowry - Aston Villa
    Garry Breen - Manchester City
    Danny Earls - Aston Villa
    Ian Bermingham - UCD
    Michael Daly - Manchester City
    James Berrett - Huddersfield Town
    James McCarthy - Hamilton Academical
    Sam Sheridan - Bolton Wanderers
    David Meyler - Cork City
    Donal McDermott - Manchester City
    Paul Cahillane - Celtic
    Ian Daly - Manchester City
    Sean Scannell - Crystal Palace
    David Hutton - Tottenham Hotspur.

Moloney has first team experience, as well as McCarthy, Berrett and Scannell.
Anyone know anything about Sheridan at Bolton, it's his first call up?

I saw Daly and Scannell play up front against Italy last year, could be the same again

If they're needed by their clubs, I'd expect McCarthy and Scannell to only play one game

    4 lads from Man City!

Will Scannel play for the under19's after being called up for the under21's?

By the way does anyone know who's in France's squad?
Adel Taarbat from Spurs and Traore from Arsenal are usually play for them at this level but I'm not sure if they're in the squad.

Does anyone know what time kick-off is at the RSC???

Probably not, the U-21 game is tuesday night, and I'd imagine Crystal Palace will want him back in England for the weekend, so I doubt he'll play in friday's game

Changes in U-19 squad (From FAI.ie)

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 team will face France this evening in the first of this week’s double-header at the RSC in Waterford (7.30pm).

The nations will meet again on Thursday in the second friendly of the week at Turner’s Cross in Cork (7.30pm). Norwich City defender Michael Spillane (left) will captain Ireland.

Irish manager Sean McCaffrey has been forced into some squad adjustments but is happy with the quality available to him and predicts good displays from his charges in the two matches over the new three days.

He said: “We’re building for future with these two friendly matches. Unfortunately, our involvement in the UEFA qualifiers ended at the first stage but that won’t stop the lads from giving it their all.”

Sean Scannell of Crystal Palace was named in the squad but earned promotion to the Under-21 squad for tonight’s UEFA qualifier against Montenegro at Terryland Park.

James McCarthy from Hamilton Academicals and Aston Villa defender Shane Lowry were both forced to withdraw.

McCaffrey has added six new players for the double-header. They are Kurtis Byrne (Hibernian), Mark O’Toole (Norwich City), Sean Byrne (Bohemians), Daniel Corcoran (Sporting Fingal), Shane Dempsey (Wexford Youths) and Barry Smith (Dundalk).

McCaffrey is manager of both the Under-17 and Under-19 International teams and guided the younger of the two teams to European Championship qualification last week.

A sprinkling of this Under-19 squad will still be young enough to try their hand at reaching the finals next season.

For the majority, though, this will be their last two matches representing Ireland at Youth level.

McCaffrey believes all of the squad members will be motivated to perform well over the course of the two matches this week.

“These pair of games complete this season’s programme for the Under-19’s and the current squad are aiming to progress into the Under-21 panel.

“That could happen soon or may not occur for a while but, either way, the incentive is there for them to convince our Under-21 manager Don Givens that they deserve a call-up.

“Some of the lads are still underage for this age-group next season and this is, for them, the beginning of preparations for the UEFA first phase qualifiers which are to be staged in Malta later in the year.”

City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

I think it might be free entry. They were giving out free tickets at the Cross last Friday, should have picked one up.

Saw the U19 game in Waterford last Tuesday. Number 11, Oberton, for France is quite a player. Should eventually make the senior French squad. Ireland didn't have to much and looked very leggy towards the end. Will be interesting to see how they get on in Cork tonight.

It was some shock to here Garry Breen over the intercom, he'd be closer to managing the u19s at this stage.

Got in free when a certain FAI-linked Cork City player sorted us out for tickets
