Pity it couldn't have scheduled at the sytart of the Special Olympics break.
Squad is very thin of central midfielders now. Suppose we have Conor, Colin T, K Murray, Bennet, & George in that order?
Today's Echo confirms that Greg O'Halloran will be out for the next while as he is heading for a knee operation

Yeah its not ideal, but then losing your skipper is never ideal. Hopefully it doesn't take any longer than 6 weeks. Regardless of this, we need cover in midfield though.
I don't know if this is going to be as big an issue as some people think.
I thought Conor and Colin played really well together vs Longford.
Don't get me wrong now - I have the utmost respect for Greg ( he really wears his heart on his sleeve ) but the other two deserve their chance.
Irish by birth,
Cork by the grace of God.
He looked sharp when ever i saw his this year that will be a blow for ye

that may be the case, but greg has been great and the problem now is the lack of cover if one of those two picks up an injury or suspension. hopefully they'll keep doing as they have been.Originally posted by Counting Crow

yeah they did, and against bohs, but those teams are both struggling this season. I'm worried how they'll fare against the likes of shels to be honest. Greg or no Greg, we've needed another midfielder since ratnolds left anyway, this changes nothing in that respectOriginally posted by Counting Crow

Just seen the echo which reports that Greg is out for over eight months with the dreaded cruciate ligament injury. Terrible blow.
Furthermore Doyle is out for a month.
Effenberg played like my grandmother!
He is out for the season, thats all.......Thats definate
Thats a massive blow! I think that Warren should be recalled from Limerick now and maybe Napier should be brought into Defence with Bennett added to the list of midfielders.
Terrible terrible news though, very sorry for the guy![]()
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
Big blow for greg and for city. Apparently he's getting the op in the next fortnight.
Unfortunately, Greg will indeed be out for the rest of the season.
This is a very big blow to our hopes for the season.
Best of luck with a speedy recovery Greg...
Also very worrying news about Doyler, he was really starting to come good of late.
We could do with these two players heading into big games against Waterford in the league and Shels in the cup.
Champions!
Thats a huge blow..... i wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.....
Gregs a big loss alright but IMO Doyle could be a bigger one although glad to hear only for a month.
We've got virtually no attacking midfielders to replace Doyle whereas we at least have some cover for Greg.
Anyone know what sort of injury has Doyle suffered?
He's been playing well lately and it's a pity this happened now. We'll certainly miss his attacking play. Time for Pat D to sign another midfielder.

Gutted for Greg, but in the short term, Doyler is a bigger loss. We really could do with him for the cup game.
very painful. injured that meself 8 years ago and its still acting upOriginally posted by joe
