Just out of curiousity, in what year did Pats adopt white sleeves on their shirts? I can remember them wearing solid red, or at least predominantly red (certainly red sleeves) jerseys up until the mid 90s.
I haven't read all of this thread(first 5 pages so far), but I'm totally confused as to what was wrong with both teams original gear?
Apparently, it was because both teams sleeves were white.....so ****ing what!!!
In the biggest league on the planet every season the north London derby is played between Arsenal and Spurs...and guess what Spurs jersey is all white and Arsenals is red with white sleeves.
So tell me again what exactly was the problem?....Oh yeah, the ref is a complete ****ing moron!
Also, poor from by Pats not agreeing to change to their away. I know the rules back them up, but for christ sake just get on with it, no need to be trying to get the walkover - pathetic all around.
Lasstly T O'D made a salient point on Mondays show: while all this nonsense was going on none of the fools out on the pitch(ref/players/club officials) could be bothered to care about the fans, who have to wait around while the mess unfolds.
This is John McDonnell, the king of pathetic. People have been slagging Barry Ryan for years about his conviction, and he's learned to laugh at it. He clapped us after we beat them at the Cross; til McDonnell comes racing across the park to "comfort" him and make angry gestures at the crowd. Talks entirely about our little chant after the game, in the hope of diverting attention away from the wheels coming off his title challenge, fully aware that Rovers had recently been in the news for some chanting of their own.

Have to agree about the fans - bloody disgrace.
However the rules are quite clear but in typical FAI Fashion contradict themselves.....
1. In event of clash away team must change
2. If clash cannot be resolved then home team must change!
3. Referee's decision is final!
At the end of the day (or should that be night!) St Pat's were obliged to change and they refused so expect a hefty fine a la Cork last year!
I know Waterford were fined last year over the jersey clash with Bohs who happened to bring a Blue(????) away kit! They procured a kit that was completely different but Bohs wouldn't wear it cos it was like the Rovers kit.But the fine apparently was for not starting the game on time! However the dispute was resolved in time and the referee (yes, A Buttimer!) put back the game to 8.15 so he could warm up again!
Unbelieveable!![]()
Did anyone notice Spurs and PSV colours last night? Spurs all white, PSV red & white. No problem with referee.
I have scattered my dreams underneath your feet, tread carefully, cos it's my dreams you walk on.
Kilkenny City v Kildare County last season had a similar problem. The sleeves on both sets of Kildare kits clashed with both sets of Kilkenny kits ( all were black) so Kilkenny had to wear their U21 teams kit( all blue).
Ironically Kilkenny were then fined for not having the Eircom logo on the sleeve!!!!!!
Yeah Marty, fill the car!
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
Whatever about the rules, Pats should have changed to the away jerseys. There was a good attendance last Friday night. Some of those may not have been at a match in a long time and this sort of shambles won't encourage them back soon. Sometimes it takes bigger men to stand up and do what's sensible in the bigger picture rather than take the "it's my ball and you're not playing with it" approach.
For the last game of the 2006 season, Longford agreed to wear their blue and yellow away kit for their home game against Pats so that Pats could wear their then new Patselona kit for a match before wearing it in the Cup Final. It was a request in advance by John McDonnell and Alan Matthew had no problem with it.
I think pats not having a "current" away jersey must've had something to do with it. The jersey worn by Sligo was our away kit 2 years ago with a PP logo stuck over it
The patselona kit is gone
