Why are people shocked by this? Kit suppliers in this country are a joke and some kitmen are even bigger jokes. If the kit suppliers used their smarts theyed make sure that each of their teams had an emergency jersey (and dont give me jip about costs. 1 set of jerseys badged and numbered etc approximate cost to supplier €200 max). I did this with Bohs last year They had 4 different kits. So what happened in Waterford I hear you scream? Ask Colly the Bohs kitman

What happens in other leagues is this:

Before the start of the season all clubs submit a CAD (drawing) of the kits they intend to use. at the referees pre season meeting they spend an our or two comparing kits and come up with a consensus. ie if Pats play Sligo at home Sligo need a third choice cos their home and away both clash (Or all the other refs go 'Oh for christ sake Anthony give it a rest') After this meeting a circular is sent to each club telling them which kit they will wear in which game. If for whatever reason a club wants to wear a different kit (i.e. a new away kit at home to show the fans) then permission must be sought.

Of course we cant do that in this country for the following reasons:

1: The kit suppliers NEVER deliver on time
2: The people who choose kits for their team i.e. Committees,Commercial managers etc are like a crowd of aul ones and take an age to make a very simple decision (Hence in a lot of cases the late deliveries).
3: It just makes too much sense

    End Rant

Ultimately this is Sligo problem but according to the rule Pats would be fined.

There is a simple solution to this - Away colours must not have the same colours as home jersey. If you have a 2 colour home jersey then you need a 3rd colour for the away jersey. If your away jersey would clash with your own home jersey then it will also clash with others.

Clashes seem most likely with 2 colour jerseys but most teams don't have a problem.

Was this a problem when the teams met in previous years? What was done then?

I seem to remember Keely having a go at the same referee in his column last year for making Shels change their 'keeper's jersey against Dundalk

I didn't hear about that. They fined us anyway

I don't think the rule needs to be changed, its a last resort rule, it just shouldnt ever come to it if the FAI did their job properly.

Refs are supposed to have more than one kit in case of this

Their fans also threw 3 bottles on to the pitch, 2 of which the ref was informed about(not sure about the 3rd) so hopefully a few fines on the way.

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

That's nonsense. An away jersey isn't for away games; it's for when there's a clash of colours. To not have a home jersey yet is ridiculous.

Are your sponsors the same as last year? Could you not have used last year's home jersey? Our third choice jersey is an old away jersey. Makes things very easy.
