This happening too often to be left up to the clubs. The FAI need to tell clubs which jersey to wear.

Apparently Sligo gave in & wore the away Pats jersey. I suppose first fine to Pats as we were told last year that it is the home that must change.

Seems to be. Interesting that he has been the referee every? time this has happened.

Lads, if you have a Pink kit like us, you're never going to clash with the opposition

We've had the same kit for 30+ years? Would arsenal get rid of white sleeves? Should Rovers get rid of the hoops? Should Barcelona get rid of stripes? Get real ffs

Seems ridiculous for this type of thing to happen on the first day of the season.
Its common for clubs who have striped or hooped jerseys to have one of the two home colours as the away jersey. How hard can it be to have an emergency 3rd kit ready in anticipation at the start of the season.
also as Dodge pointed out Pats have had the same strip forever, they were the home team (why should they be worrying about an away kit?), I can't see anyone but Sligo to blame here.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

Even at Kennedy Cup Level (u13s) you are given plenty of notice as to the colour of all kits worn by the 30 odd leagues who take part in it every June!! Time to get organised so not to clash!!!!

St Pats....Home team, same kit design for years, why should they have to change.

Sligo Rovers....Away team, get your house in order, sack your kit man, you knew what St Pats were gonna wear (unless you dont know the difference between Dublin teams colours)...you were wrong

Dont blame the Ref.....blame Sligo Rovers....Poor Preperation for the 1st game of the season.
    Ciao

Sligo have a red and white home kit and a white away kit. Thats sensible! Surely an all black or navy away kit would stop any conflict.

Pats jersey is registered as ALL RED with the FAI doesn't matter what it looked like the past 15 or what ever years. If it was registered as red and white their would be no problem

Points deduction surely for both clubs. If the FAI don't deduct points from these clubs for doing this it will happen again!

Typical, blame the ref. 9 point reduction for both clubs seems fair, especially Sligo.

    No bias shown

Looks very bad on the league, Buttimer is a fussy prat but maybe he's just following instructions? Either way, a bit stupid of Sligo tbh, their home jersey is red and white so their away jersey is made White Makes sense eh?

Maybe the next clubs that are playing with him should insist that his jersey clashes with, i dunno, the colour of the grass or the ballboys tops, and insist that he changes before they start.

sligo travelling to a match with only one strip all white to a club who wear red and white ,perfect planning and pats refusing to change should lead to a fine. both clubs have behaved stupidly and deserve what they get . now the league office are suppose to look at kit matchups before match day so what the **** were the doing well done mr gavin take a bow. mr buttimer looks like you called it right

Similar to what happened with us and Bray last night. I blame the same people I did then, the FAI, they have to sanction the kits, they should have let Sligo know they'd need a third kit for the Pats game or not sanctioned their away jersey.

We got fined a grand for this last year as the home team.

    Serious paranoia.

Amazing the amount of people from outside Dublin who actually believe this tripe. Especially unbeleivable in the GAA where no Dublin referee would referee a Dublin game, and more likely than not favour the non-Dublin side. And the notion that GAA headquarters are pro-Dubs is laughable.

But don't let that stop any of you with an inferiority complex. Was the referee from Dublin?
