Reminds me of Princess Tinymeat, a short lived 80's Dublin band.

really! well i'll have to google pronto. people compare them to my bloody valentine which i can see but they're more like the california band Medicine from the 90s to me. very over-driven sound. princess tinymeat. there's something very obscene about that name.

Don't need to google. Go here:

Try "fairest of them all" and "sloblands".

some terrific stuff there. Sloblands is right the f*ck up my alley, wow. i don't know the prunes' stuff at all either so a bit more digging is necessary. thanks for this rec., i'll look around because this kind of stuff is really doing it these days (Coil, some Current 93, and german noise-droners herbst9 - http://www.herbst9.de/mainframe.htm - tell me what you think of them if you have the time/interest).

    Good, eerie stuff.

I'd say you'd like Black Lung. In particular, their album "The Coming Dark Age." Sort of like Herbst9, only with d&b mixed in for good measure.

great, again: thanks. gonna sniff them out now. seeing you mention that they have d&b mixed in - do you like the artist Burial? he's an electronic style called dubstep which i'm really uninformed about but has been getting lots of ink!

Just listening to Burial's self-titled album now, thanks to your question. Hadn't heard of him/them(?) before. There's some very good stuff on there; interesting rhythms. Some of the vocal samples are a bit dubious though.
