It was the official attendance announced on the radio. Plus the co-commentator had estimated 1,200 earlier on, so I'd be surprised if it was wrong.

Neither of whom, of course, are in the Second Division.

And even if they were, taking out 13500 and 8500 would not reduce a 24-team average frmo 7800 to 5500.

Are you talking about League 2 or the Championship?

Its so hard to tell given you constantly tell me that Shane MCFaul plays for Brighton in the 3rd division!

Old crest indeed! I'll give you old crest. Splitter!

    Just for the record

4212 is the average attendance so far in League 2
7846 is the average attendance so far in League 1
16630 is the average attendance so far in the Championship

Though agree that our crowd averages are along the lines of upper Blue Square Premier/Lower 2nd Division.
Why don't we remove Derry and Cork from our average while we're at it then?

Anyone know what the best guesss is for the total crowds for week 1 and week 2.
For example week 2 we had abt 6500 at brandywell and abt 3800 in dalymount and tolka.
It would be good to keep an eye on the rough total and see if it grows during the season.

Pineapple's post on page 6 has the first week's figures (mix of official and guesswork). Most of this week's are probably posted here since Friday.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Update after week two. Clubs who give official figures are in bold.

    PREMIER DIVISION
    Bohs - 4,000 (2007 - 1,924; 2006 - 1,463; 2005 - 1,976; 2004 - 2,340) (awaiting official figure)

If we could remove UCD's we'd be alot better off.

I agree. 2 of the lads at work said it was "very impressive" and they watched MSN last night and were saying very positive things about the LOI this morning. Both Liverpool "supporters" CURRENTLY... I am hearing this "see the Bohs match last night"..."I thought the goals in the Drogheda v ________ were sweet on RTE the other night..." kind of thing from people who didn;t know we had a league a few years back more and more.

The tide is turning. It really is.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. It is improving though.
I must admit that I was pretty p!ssed off at first that the Derry - Harps game wasn't shown live but, I doubt if the same numbers would have attended the game had it been on telly (especially given the night that was in it).
Alot of people up here are talking more and more about Harps, eircom league, etc. I reckon there will be a fairly sizable crowd in Finn Park on friday night for the UCD game now, hopefully the game will be a good one and entice more and more people to come out.
Pack them in I say, but lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Hows about that, optimism and pessimism all in one paragraph :P

I would of thought the 450 for the Kildare Shels game was about right. There were very few gaps around the pitch and a big enough group behind one of the goals.

To be quite honest i have been going to dalyer since i was a nipper and in my humble opinion Faheys goal on friday was up there in the top five goals that i have ever witnessed there.
I had a few people saying nice things in work about the league and with a couple of years of this MNS programme i think the league can really kick on

Well, two of those are subjective but are Harps fans actually saying that they have no idea why RTE would choose to show 2nd vs. 3rd from last season instead of the most one-sided derby in Irish sport
